I'd like to see this

----------------Reina-----------------

Kelly-----------Carra--------Agger------------Aurelio

------------Poulsen--------------Gerrard

-Johnson--------Cole-------------Pacheco

------------------Torres-------------------

Pacheco and Cole can also switch.

fatima should learn to defend, then learn to attack, all this of course, after he's got a fucking haircut.

I wasn't the only one who thought it looked shite too then?

whats stronger:

kelly / johnson
johnson / kuyt
johnson / maxi

i like no. 3 but it feels like kuyt is an automatic starter because he'll work hard to help johnson. if thats the case we may as well give kelly and johnson a go

Out of the above, number 2 is definitely the least desirable IMO simply because Kuyt is so ineffective on the right hand side, it may be different if we played a 4-3-3 but that's never going to happen.

Johnson would be a super wingback, but wingback systems are so 1996.

I think Maxi should be given a crack on the right side, he seems to be on the same wavelength as Cole.

Should get a nice bit of football between Gerrard, Cole and Maxi.

Reina
Carra Skrtel Agger

Johnson Poulsen Aurelio

Gerrard J.Cole

Babel/Pacheco

Torres

That team would go not bad
Assuming Babel can do well in a #10 role (never seen him there) then Me likey.
I've been saying this for months on end. He gives us width, he can shoot with both feet and can put a great cross in. Its a no brainer and it also means if we don't get another striker we can put Kuyt in the striker role - actually that could be an argument against it!
Yeah, you mentioned this to me as well.

I'd like to see this tried, but I have reservations about Kelly at RB.

Which means getting another RB, possibly.

Babel in the NO 10 is silly in fairness.

-------------Reina---------------

MK-------JC-----MS/DA-----FA

-------Gerrard------Poulsen---

Glenjo------Cole---------Jova

------------Torres----------------

If Johnson isn't going to be deployed at RW, I would have no problem playing him RB with Kuyt ahead of him and Kelly at LB. I think Kelly needs to be playing now.

Not bad but i'd rather Johnson in RB and Maxi in RM.. Kelly is too young and will be found out eventually.

What's going on with Maxi?

I don't rate him as highly as some on here, but I'm bemused he hasn't been given much of a chance under Roy.

Another shit trainer?

Magic is a right-back

The End
Well he needs to sort out the defensive side of it and he needs a cold bucket of water throwing at him pre game, because he looks half asleep most of the time.

He's had a bug Squiggs, that's why he was out yesterday, a severe bout of the shits apparently.

He was ill for the Trabszonspor game. Not sure what with, but maybe it's been a while developing and has affected him in training.

Babel is pish with his back to goal, has a terrible first touch- and is mentally slow. He runs, cuts inside, shoots, runs cuts inside, shoots. Simple and sometimes effective. Having him as a creative playmaker is mind boggling silly.

Roy needs to give Glenjo a go at RW with Kelly in behind him at RB. West Brom on Sunday is the perfect opportunity to try this out.

Is Johnson at RW a pipe dream or a genuine option?
Has anyone's stance on this changed? Not advocating it to be tested away to united but perhaps something to think about.

Gareth Bale relished in a similar move.

I'd go with it ILD, I wouldn't lose any sleep if I never saw Johnson at fullback again, and I like him as a 'player'.

I'm not 100% for it myself Mark as he was bought as a FB, trains as a FB and it is his natural position. However, I feel he would relish the opportunity ahead of a RB and we might benefit from it. He doesn't seem to be at the races so far this season and Evra will give him a torrid time if he's sleeping come Sunday.

True, Bale may well be the exception not the rule but it still doesn't mean we shouldn't try Johnson there.

We don't have much to lose.

On a side note, I wish he'd sort his hair out too. I'll crack up if I see him constantly fixing it on Sunday.

has anyone ever won anything with a version of 352?

the reason i ask is that i really do think that with the players we have it must be considered an option.

I doubt that very much. If it were true it would have happened far earlier in his career. He doesn't know the RW position (whereas Bale had played LM often for Southampton) and a game against the Mancs - even if they're not in great shape themselves - is not the time for this or any other experiment IMO. If we're going to try this (and I'm far from convinced by the idea, as explained earlier in the thread) it needs to be in the Carling Cup or some such.

Johnson is not the best defender, he is however excellent offensively.

We don't have a very offensively threatening RW at the moment.

We have another solid looking RB.

Do the maths: Johnson at RW, Kelly at RB.

We need to learn to use the personnel we have most effectively.

Just saying "do the math" is far too superficial. We've seen too many players picked out of position over the years as it is.
