Moises Caicedo

Thiago, when he plays is not one that we carry. The guy is quite tough actually, but we do carry him when he is out injured but then we do that for most of our fucking MF.

I don't agree. He cannot hold his own defensively in that three player midfield. Others must compensate. Not that it isn't a team game, mind you.

Probably already been said, but this would be somewhat of a sideways move for Moises. He's best staying put.

If we had someone like Caicedo at LCM, I think Thiago could be an option to sub for Fabinho - he has played CDM quite a lot for Bayern, it can work if he has a tenacious partner next to him.

By the sounds of it Maximo Perrone is very highly rated, available for under 10M and would walk into our midfield currently.

I wonder if we were ever interested.

Not a midfielder but there's this kid named Vitor Roque that currently plays in Brazil's top tier.

17 years old. Highly highly rated.

If I’ve googled the right one he’s played 43 club games and zero international. No chance he gets a work permit.

I see him more of a Naby type player than a proper #6 like Fab or Kante, but maybe that's just the way Brighton play on the front foot and high up the pitch.

Martinelli says hi.
Caicedo says hi.

So too does Vini Jr, Rodrygo and Endrick.

Unless I've missed something and the rules are different for LFC?

Caicedo was a full international before he signed for Brighton.

Martinelli has an Italian passport.

I don’t quite know what impact you think the rules in Spain have to the rules in England for permits - but none would be the answer.

So close..

Your last 3 don't play in England. Spain play by their own rules. They have "Non-EU" Quotas.

To maintain their permits they need to play x amount of games.

Caideco only had a couple of caps though before Brighton bought him.

Martinelli says hi. Duel citizen (Italian)
Caicedo says hi. - international player

So too does Vini Jr, Rodrygo and Endrick. Why do they need UK work permits?

You have missed things.

Right, so we just need him to make an appearance for Brazil and he'd be granted a work permit just like that?

I don't know the full criteria because we've only signed a few players that fell under this scenario.

Some get granted them via EU countries whick we would’ve allowed. Now it’s a little more problematic.

Transfermarkt also has him as a DM for Brighton this season

17 games
13 as DM / 4 as CM

Transfermarkt cannot possibly do the level of granular analysis to distinguish a DM from CM in most games. Their position stats can be useful to see how many times a winger played on the opposite flank, for example, but not so much in a case like this. For me Caicedo is a defensive-minded 8 who can also cover at DM if needed.

It’s not my fault you’re fucking stupid.

The UK applies a points based system - to which playing a percentage of international games contributes to the threshold for getting a permit.

So yes - if a prospective young South American signing had played for his country it’s likely they’ll stand a good chance - especially if it’s Brazil, or Argentina.

For Brazil, if they’d played in 30% or more senior internationals during the reference period, then they auto-pass for a permit.

For Caicedo, yes, playing for his national team probably gave him enough points - he would have needed to appear in 70% of internationals for an auto pass - so it’s likely that his domestic and loan minutes combined with that would have got him a permit.

We looked at Joao Gomes - a young Brazilian - but I reckon we didn’t move for him because he hasn’t got enough points, having never played for the national side.

This was already posted a few months ago, but a must-watch for anyone interested to know more about Caicedo.

Wasn’t he loaned to a European team?

Yeah - but not immediately - he was signed in the Jan window and stayed with Brighton till the end of the season - then did a 6 month loan at the start of the following season.

I actually think Cacidos got his permit due to playing in the Copa Libertadors for his Ecudorian club - with a couple of full international caps pushing him over the line.

If the UK really wanted to get people onside more with the Brexit fallout, you'd think they'd make it easier to get work permits here. Bring through exciting south american/african talents much easier.

But the UK is fucking thick, so ah well
