RB Leipzig have literally just been told they're fine for the champions league next season , apparently

Red Bull Leipzig cleared for Champions League by UEFA after ownership issue
5:06 PM BST
UEFA will allow Bundesliga runners-up Red Bull Leipzig to play in the Champions League next season.
Leipzig's status had been in jeopardy because Red Bull Salzburg won the Austrian Bundesliga, and the European governing body's integrity rules prevent multiple teams from the same ownership from playing in the Champions League.
But UEFA's adjudicatory body was satisfied that the clubs, despite both having links to the energy drink company, had fulfilled the requirements needed to allow entry for both clubs.
Salzburg will enter the competition in the second qualifying round, while Leipzig enter in the group stage, but the Austrian club would have taken priority as champions

I'd b very surprised if Wijnaldum and Firmino aren't in Klopp's starting XI more often than not.

I am also slightly worried that we won't be signing a new striker now - we might not need it if Salah is a potent as some believe he is and his numbers in Italy suggests, I'd love a real striker still though.
Damn that's a good team. Goals everywhere. Much stronger defence (because I'm voting for Kierney at LB, whether Klopp likes it or not) and Henderson, Can and Wijnaldum as the 3rd CM with Lallana mixing it up with Coutinho & Keita and our 5 strikers vying with Firmino. Strength in depth too.

I'd like to know how UEFA fiddled that one because the ownership structure obviously conflicts with their clear regulations and punishment.

His name is Salah
he plays for LFC don't you know
He moves so fast (oh whey oh)
Defence is falling down like a domino

All the reds standing on the Kop say
whey oh whey oh whey oh whey-whey oh
Score like an Egyptian

(To Walk like an Egyptian, obviously!)

apparently the bundesliga 50+1% rule may be the reason, it prevents private organisations from owning the majority stake of a football club , therefore , strictly speaking Red Bull doesn't own the club , it just finances it.....

This is like getting turned down by that fit girl in college, because she fancies that chav prick with the greasy quiff, the tan and the rich parents. She finally realises after a few years that he's a selfish, thick twat with no soul.

So you meet her years later and she's lowered her aspirations and pretends she fancied you all along.

I mean, come on, fucking wake up.

Erm, it isn't like that at all.

I know it is difficult to believe considering how slick and professional we are at transfers, but WE fucked up last time. He initially wanted to come to us, but we consistently low-balled Basle and when Chelsea breezed in and paid what they wanted, he went there. This is more like you go to a brothel and the sexiest bird in the place costs £1000 for the night. You're standing there in your jeans, shirt and scuffed trainers haggling with the owner of the place for a good hour whilst she is touching up her makeup and tapping her toes when a Saville row besuited flash harry comes in, pays the grand, and leaves with the lady.

Yeah, but she still left with him, the money grabbing whore.

RBL MANAGING DIRECTOR OLIVER MINTZLAFF:

  • "We are very pleased with UEFA's positive decision. This decision follows a detailed analysis and is the result of an open and transparent exchange with UEFA at all times. In this constructive process, changes have been made with our shareholders to comply with the rules on the integrity of the competition. We are now part of UEFA and are looking forward to the Champions League together with our competitors. "

Looks like they (Red Bull) shifted some shares over to the supporters club ...

Hmmm manipulation after the fact. Not a legal process anywhere but in a UEFA court it seems.

But we didn't get a bid accepted? Which means he couldn't have turned us down.

So its more like not having the courage to ask the fit girl out, but then growing some balls 4 years later and then getting the answer you could have gotten then. Ending up being a waste of both time and money. No? 😉

But she's much much fitter now, so...

On the face of it, until you get her home and it's like a train wreck down there. I hope we've learned our lessons and started to check under the bonnet. (See what I did there, an analogy, within an analogy!)

A statement said: "The adjudicatory chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) has decided to accept the admission of both FC Salzburg and RB Leipzig to the UEFA Champions League 2017/18, having found that Article 5 (Integrity of the competition) of the competition regulations is not breached.

"Following a thorough investigation, and further to several important governance and structural changes made by the clubs (regarding corporate matters, financing, personnel, sponsorship arrangements, etc.), the CFCB deemed that no individual or legal entity had anymore a decisive influence over more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition.

"This decision may be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport within 10 days...

"The CFCB will continue to monitor both clubs to ensure that integrity rules are respected going forward."

I heard that around the end of the season, however their name made all the preliminary CL Pot lists so I assumed they had got away with it and UEFA had bent over. Where did you hear otherwise ?
The news broke today. I don't think it's set in stone, but Sky are reporting it.

Edit... Gah! Just seen HC's post. Oh well, that's that then.

Other teams with their broken dreams say

I'm wasted on the likes of you lot.

Mo, Mo, Mo your boat, gentle down Salah, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, scoring from the wing.

Salah signing means lallana on the bench then I guess?

It might mean more Gini, Lallana or Bobby on the bench depending on the game. With the extra games we have to play, I think everyone will get their turn.
