Remember when we signed players and gave them time to bed in before we proclaimed they were crap?
I do.
Simpler times.

When has this ever been the case though? I've been on SCM for more than 10 years now and I don't remember this ever happening.

According to the Egyptian media, a fee has been agreed.

Tarek Talaat@tarektal3at
@LFC reach an agreement with @ASRomaEN about Mohamed Salah who prepare for the medical on the next days.

From the senior editor of Yallakora, some Egyptian media outlet that appaz broke the news first about our interest and the the first bid.

This might actually happen now. For the upteenth time.

Douglas Costa off to Juve for a reported £28m. I know who I'd prefer if it was a choice between him and Salah. Unbelievable Bayern are selling for that price. Gnabry as his replacement? Again I know who I'd prefer out of those two.

He's that price for a reason. Bayern don't want him and that's what they think he's worth. Maybe he's not quite as good as YouTube would have us all believe

100% agree. I'd have liked both if i'm honest. £28m is a steal in today's market.

Salah is better than Douglas Costa in my view.

Costa is ultra talented, but often flatters to deceive.

Salah is the better player. Costa is talented but from matches i've seen both play, Salah has better end product and suits Klopp's style more.

How many goals has Costa scored the last two seasons?
And Salah?

If Klopp was all about getting a mega price striker then Costa supplying him would make sense. If he goes for Salah, then I'm guessing Bobby will be first choice again next season

Salah also missed 5 weeks in the 2016/2017 season at AFCON where he was involved in almost every one of Egypts goals.

For the upteenth time reports in Egypt are saying its close to being done. But it might actually look somewhat close to being true now (from another site, Egyptian and Italian journo). Yallakora have been the first source of most of the news regarding this transfers btw.
C + P from another site.

#Liverpool, new bid for Roma winger Mohamed #Salah: €35m + bonus! Negotiations ongoing between the clubs

LFC offer for Salah has not been rejected according to @MatteoPedrosi. Talks ongoing. LFC may have to go up a little more though.

English Premier League giants Liverpool Football Club have finally agreed a deal with AS Roma over the transfer of Egypt international Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah’s move to Liverpool is set to finally be finalized as Liverpool have agreed terms with Roma, KingFut sources confirm.
As revealed by KingFut, the 18-time league champions were set to submit a revised bid for Salah’s services, which was satisfactory to demands.
After negotiations in the presence of the player’s agent in England earlier today, an agreement has been reached and the player is set to travel to England for his medical.
Salah has booked his ticket and will arrive for his check-ups on Tuesday, the 20th of June.
Salah, who turned 25 this week, has had his best-ever season since going professional, scoring 19 goals in all competitions for Roma, despite missing almost a month and a half due to his presence with the Egyptian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations. At the AFCON in Gabon, Salah was involved in four of Egypt’s five goals with 2 goals and 2 assists as he led the Pharaohs to the finals, where they lost 2-1 to Cameroon.

It is worth noting that the Italians initially put a €50 million price tag for their star player, with Roma sporting director Monchi confirming this week than an offer had already been received from an ‘English club’ for Salah, but the club would not sell until their valuation was met.
KingFut understands a deal for Salah has been struck at a record-breaking fee in the range of €45 million.

Kingfut. Might be the Egyptian version of the Croydon Advertiser, but fuck it, we need some big transfer news.
Salah would kick start our transfer window in the right direction.

I really hope last season wasn't just a flash in the pan for him. For some reason I can't get too excited by this transfer, he just doesn't appeal to me that much, but when I spend two seconds thinking about it, it makes sense on every level and he's exactly what we need, speed, work rate, and now goals. Regardless, I'm just glad that it seems we're finally getting a deal done.

When has this ever been the case though? I've been on SCM for more than 10 years now and I don't remember this ever happening.

I'm talking about the 70s and 80s when a new player was given time to bed in in the reserves, or given the benefit of the doubt in the first team. Admittedly that was when we trusted the backroom staff and club implicitly because we always won stuff and were one of the best-run and most successful clubs in the world.

i find the idea of another rapid winger to be very appealing , even if you work on the basis that he won't make quite the impact Mane made , we have massively lacked pace and width last season, this signing should remedy both of those issues

Officially signed
