Mohamed Salah Link 2017

various Italian and UK news outlets have said over the last few days that inter beat Chelsea to Rudiger and had agreed a deal.
Posted by The Echo today at 15.18

“We don’t intend to sell players and we want to give the boss a competitive squad.
“As to the two names mentioned, it’s true that some people like them. An English club likes Salah, and we’ll decide what price to set depending on the circumstances.
“There are no offers for (defender Antonio) Rudiger and there’s no chance that he’ll go. As I have said before, Roma is not a supermarket.”

Wheres that quote from Klopp about knowing who we were getting and all our business was pretty much sorted just needed signing off?

For the fucking lols like.

From back in late April ?

We seem to have only been talking to the players and their agents

I cant remember when it was.
But I dont recall it mentioning a mongoloid scattergun approach to the summer window chasing footballers round like Benny fucking Hill and as soon as the club says lets fuck we get shy and go wank in a bush.

I love this club.
But fuck me I HATE this fucking club.

Fucking hell Oncy. The window hasn't even opened yet ! VVD was obviously a target that we fucked up, however Salah looks likely to get done and we've heard nothing else of any other targets - that's probably a good thing.

A good thing? I'm not sure. I had huge expectations for this summer, and I have a bad feeling I'm going to be rather disappointed.

didn't Klopp ay the opposite to the above post match last day of the season , wouldn't be as quick as last season yada yada.

that doesn't excuse the VVD mess but in all fairness , the window isn't open yet this is just like pre season for silly season ,as long as we knuckle down during silly season its all good

What we've done from the end of the season until now doesnt have to represent what will happen by the end of August.

Just relax.

If we've cocked up the window this bad before it's even open, imagine how much more we'll have screwed up by the time it closes.

I don't know why anyone's surprised about our shit transfer dealings, you only have to remember last season when we neglected to buy a left back when it was clear to everyone that Moreno was shit and was always going to be shit. We were lucky that Milner played so well there for most of the season.
The other thing that seemed obvious was replacing or upgrading on Lucas. We tried to sell him last summer and in January but ended up playing him 31 times in all competitions which seems mad when the player was deemed surplus to requirements.
Then there's the Sakho situation when a centre half is left to rot for six months in the u23's and then sent out on loan (where he did well) whilst we had the hapless Klavan, the slow Lucas and the recovering Gomez getting games.
Apart from mane last seasons signings were pretty crap so why should this seasons be any different.

Karius - Crap so far
Manninger - Anonymous but maybe he helped put the cones out for training so fair enough
Klavan - Crap so far
Matip - Good until christmas then Crap after new year and the way the Afcon debacle was handled was embarrasing for the club again.
Wijnaldum - Decent at home but wears his invisible man kit away from home.
Grujic - Injured or not picked so hard to judge
Mane - Excellent whenever he played

It has slammed opened. Unless you just think we are going to sign freebies only.

It seems to be wide open for City and United folks.
Dont worry im sure we will feast off scraps.

How was it embarrassing? We did everything right, whereas FIFA made us guess what their thoughts were on the subject
It was embarassing as the club didn't know whether they could play him or not and Klopp admitted as much. The club should have got clarification months before it was even an issue.

Bollocks.

Matip retired from international football and yet the national team called him up anyway. Without a time machine it was impossible to predict that happening.

What the fucks a time machine got to do with anything?

It seems reading this that it was Matips responsibility to inform the Cameroon FA that he had decided to retire from International football in writing but Liverpool (and all clubs) should know the rules regarding releasing players for international duty and should have checked with Matip that he'd done things properly. Cameroon then decided to be cunts about it but they shouldn't have had the chance to do so.

Hmmmm. ... when you put it like that, last year does sound like crap. I remember at the time thinking we did alright in a modest sense and that not buying a left back was a calculated but reasonable risk.

how was it crap?
Karius and Klavan were poor, but Gini was a good signing, Matip is a good CB but struggled with injury and of course a new league and was free, but Mane's signing was amazing.
That's far from crap.

It's about 50/50 really. Wijnaldum was hit and miss, Matip had good games and bad games but looks a good signing overall, Mane was amazing. Klavan and Karius were shite and Grujic barely kicked a ball even when we went down to the bare minimum though injury. The Manninger deal was perplexing to say the least. It's far from crap but it's far from a resounding success too.

Manninger by all accounts really helped Mignolet.
I doubt this was the sole reason to have signed him of course, but I do remember him being mentioned as having a coaching role when we brought him in, and the fact that Karius was signed meant Manninger was thought of as an emergency sub.
I think it turned out well in the end.

Exactly, thnakfully he wasn't needed but it also allowed Ward to go out on loan and gain valuable experience.

I can't recall reading any account about Manninger's role in helping Mignolet. I certainly do know, and it's been widely recorded, that Achterberg worked on a daily basis with him to improve all the problem areas and it's a bit mean, after all the flak he received (including from me), that his work is now being redescribed as Manninger's contribution. Give the guy a break.

It might be this mate, from the Echo (also praising Achterberg):

“John spoke to me about getting more aggressive and I think I’ve learned that through the season. All credit to him for working on that and helping me through it.
“Then there is Alex. I spoke to him over a few drinks in Sydney and I told him I had to thank him for everything he did.
“As a keeper, you can’t really go and speak to anyone in detail about what you are going through. Let’s be honest - I can’t go and speak to Joel (Matip) or Dejan (Lovren) or Studge (Daniel Sturridge) or Gini (Wijnaldum) about what I’m going through. You can’t do it with the guy you are competing with either.
“But Alex understands me and he has got the ideas. He’s got a similar character to what I have, so it was refreshing to speak with him. He’s played with top keepers through his career. He gave me that opportunity to bounce ideas off him when we were in a the gym.
“You wouldn’t necessarily do that with your coach and you certainly wouldn’t do it within outfield player.
“This has been my best season for Liverpool but I am still taking things on board.”

His +20m-ish signings strengthened us. Without either one of Gini or Mane we would be frolicking amongst the likes of Everton, Southampton and Man United in the table.

Karius, Grujic and Klavan were never bought for the first team.

Matip on a free is a great signing. Best defender we have currently.

I would unreservedly trust Klopp and his committee with more signings.

Wrong.

Mido on Salah:

“Liverpool’s style of play suits Salah perfectly and Klopp’s style suits him.

“I’m not concerned about the competition Salah will face in Liverpool but I just fear he might not be able to cope with the higher tempo of playing in the Premier League.”

I'm not sure how those two sentences fit together in his noddle.

'He talk like an Egyptian'

I'll get my coat.
