Don't judge him after one game mate ... Give him a few more - he, like most of this squad, still isn't in tune with the system BR is implementing. He may not make it, but to rule him out based on his first competitive match is harsh.
Not just harsh - ridiculous. Stevie didn't set the world alight when the first made the team either.

Youngsters need time to find their feet in the first team, to get to know their team-mates and to raise their confidence levels so they can play their natural game without fear of failure (Sterling is a force of nature and the Gods have decreed normal rules do not apply to him).

It seems our fans have lost patience with young players.

A normal fan, who stood with me on the kop for about 10 years & went to senior & youth & reserve matches with me, he is a very astute knowledgeable fan in the main, text me the other night & said 'well, this Morgan lad is shite, way out of his depth'.

I pointed out he was 18, in his anfield debut & playing out of position & to remember how many players we saw initially struggle stepping up from the youth cup teams to the senior side.

He apologised & said he wasn't thinking.

My point (I do have one!) is that even more considered & patient fans are catching this impatience & longing for instant gratification, which isn't the way football works. Yes, it's bad cos it means it's a long uphill struggle, & we pay more to watch footy, & go the match, but it's the way it works, it still takes time to get it right.

The exciting thing is Jon that Rodgers looks more likely to give young players their chance in the team, and to keep them around, than any of our more recent mangers have, to my memory. I hope to see more than just Sterling, Morgan, Yamil and Suso given a chance this season. That has got to be very encouraging, not only for our current reserve/youth squads but also for youngsters offered a place here and then looking at their chances of ever getting a shout.

10 men comment was referring to Owen, not Morgan.

i'd take him back easily, the clubs more important than any player, and that means we shouldnt turn away from anyone that could help us, he's still a good finisher, exactly what we need

Liverpool are weighing up a move for free agent Michael Owen after failing to add a striker to their ranks on transfer deadline day.
The out-of-favour Andy Carroll was loaned out to West Ham United on Friday, and it appeared Liverpool would go on to replace the forward to provide back-up to Luis Suarez and summer signing Fabio Borini.
The Reds were linked with moves for Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge and also Clint Dempsey on transfer deadline day, with the latter subsequently joining Tottenham from Fulham after the Reds reportedly failed with a £4 million bid.
Owen, 32, is without a club after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season and is free to sign a for a new team outside of the transfer window, although he needs to sign early next week if he is to be certain of being eligible to play in Premier League matches before January.
All top-flight teams must submit their finalised 25-man squads for the first half of the season by 4pm on Tuesday. Later registrations have happened in the past, notably with Aston Villa signing Robert Pires, but are at the league's discretion and require the club involved to have an unfilled space in their 25-man list.
Liverpool could yet consider a swoop for their former attacker, who scored 118 league goals in 216 appearances before moving to Real Madrid in 2004.
Stoke have also been linked with Owen, although the club are wary of being able to match his wage demands, even on a structured pay-as-you-play deal.
Owen said on Saturday that he had "spoken to a few clubs", although he cautioned not to expect any sort of announcement in the next day or so.
"I know who is interested but nothing will be done until next week," Owen said on Twitter. "Obviously can't tell you who I'm in talks with yet. I have an idea where I will go but you never know who else could enter the fray!"
Owen would not be Rodgers' first choice signing, but with the prospect of surviving until January with just two viable first-team forwards he may consider the ex-Newcastle poacher the best solution for an unfortunate situation.
Everton have also been linked with the ex-England international, while Owen has consistently ruled out a drop down to the Championship.
