the reason lucas has done unusually well against the mancs is that a high tempo pressing midfield is the key to beating them, they like to spread the ball out wide and let the wingers carry it but they dont really have any great pace or steel in the middle of the park and can be bossed out of it (see Everton last season) this is where the mascher lucas axis did well against Utd because combined with Kuyts tireless running it exposed the weakness in their midfield, namely that its one paced
I would hope to see Poulsen and Meireles in the middle but whoever is given that brief standing off and letting Utd, Scholes in particular, pick their passes with time and space in the middle is a recipe for disaster. We have to be aggressive here, its the way to get a result, show them no respect, get in amongst them and get your tackles in first, Giggs and Scholes will tire in a high tempo game and Nani will drift out of it completely if denied an effective supply line
Win the battle in the middle and you win the game because I trust Gerrard Torres and Cole to have enough to create oppurtunites against a Utd back four lacking in cohesion right now
This is not a game for Maxi or Jovanavic, indecision here will be very costly
