Er....
Ha, British/UK based managers then.
Er....
his 10 he's had seen gerrard and spud stick pens away at OTHe probably didn't see an away team get even one at Old Toilet in the Ferguson era. And some of them would have been as nailed on as any we saw last weekend.
Yep, the complete disregard of Rodgers history, either through choice or ignorance, except for the bits that involve that cunt Mourinho, highlights this nicely.
He is used as an example why more clubs should take chances on younger English managers without looking any further through his resume than Swansea.
Unless

Tbf, if another manager had achieved what Rodgers had at Swansea, in the style he did it, and with his very impressive personal charisma and drive, then I'd be saying they also deserved a chance at a big club. Not because they're British, though, but as a reward for their work. Pocchetino springs to mind.
But yeah, it's the work done earlier on in his career that was crucial in getting him to that point.
Pocchetino's a good shout. Has his team playing entertaining football, not afraid to use his young players, and is actually a reasonable target, given that firstly, his buddy was sacked, and secondly, he might actually contemplate moving on having perhaps come close to the ceiling with Southampton.

I just love the Gerrard song. You know the one about him kissing the badge and asking for a transfer.Another thing I noticed having re watched the game was that the Manc fans spent way more time singing their Liverpool songs that they did ones supporting their own team.
They will be even more obsessed in the coming seasons when they are mid table and we are powering ahead in the title winning stakes again
I'm curious - How does the song go?I just love the Gerrard song. You know the one about him kissing the badge and asking for a transfer.
Strange, that it doesn't remind them about a certain green monster who's playing upfront for them.

Steve Gerrard Gerrard.
First time I heard it was live in an away game against West Ham. No I'm not a closet scum supporter. Thanks Modo
Rubbish song though. If I ever wrote a song so dull and turgid I'd be banned from these boards quick smart. As 6CM's self appointed songsmith I'd expect nothing less. 😉

Hasn't these songs got an outing every year though?
What has changed that a journo like Ollie Holt feels he can seek the moral high ground about it now?
I think we all know.

Rodgers on the tactics that undid United:
"I wanted to play and have superiority on the inside. I like to flood numbers around the middle of the field in order to control and dominate the game.
"Manchester United's centre-halves drop off, so we could exploit the space in front of that with Raheem's speed and then introduce Philippe [Coutinho] to the game.
"We worked it the other way against Southampton, where we felt that we could play through and get it into Philippe, who could then open the game up, then bring Raheem into it later when it opens up.
"In this game, because of the pitch and the nature of Manchester United, being at home they have to attack, it would allow us to get round the back of their midfield. For a young player of 19 years of age, he is developing really well tactically.
"Both boys on the side - Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen - were exceptional. They very rarely get mentioned, especially Joe Allen. But the tactical intelligence of both to play on the side of a diamond, with Steven just in behind controlling and dictating the tempo, was very good."

So is it fair to say Rodgers himself is also learning and evolving in the job ?
