Man UTD vs Liverpool Post Match

Yep, the complete disregard of Rodgers history, either through choice or ignorance, except for the bits that involve that cunt Mourinho, highlights this nicely.

He is used as an example why more clubs should take chances on younger English managers without looking any further through his resume than Swansea.

Tbf, if another manager had achieved what Rodgers had at Swansea, in the style he did it, and with his very impressive personal charisma and drive, then I'd be saying they also deserved a chance at a big club. Not because they're British, though, but as a reward for their work. Pocchetino springs to mind.

But yeah, it's the work done earlier on in his career that was crucial in getting him to that point.

Pocchetino's a good shout. Has his team playing entertaining football, not afraid to use his young players, and is actually a reasonable target, given that firstly, his buddy was sacked, and secondly, he might actually contemplate moving on having perhaps come close to the ceiling with Southampton.

Good shout... But Southamptons ceiling and Man U's ceiling seem to be quite the same these days 😉

I like him. If Spurs have any sense they'll offer him the job and let him build something over a couple of years.

But they seem hopeless at appointing managers so thankfully they probably won't.

Another thing I noticed having re watched the game was that the Manc fans spent way more time singing their Liverpool songs that they did ones supporting their own team.
They will be even more obsessed in the coming seasons when they are mid table and we are powering ahead in the title winning stakes again

I just love the Gerrard song. You know the one about him kissing the badge and asking for a transfer.
Strange, that it doesn't remind them about a certain green monster who's playing upfront for them.

I'm curious - How does the song go?

Only he didn't actually ask for a transfer did he? Silly Mancs. Twenty years of success and still obsessed with us. Can't wait for the next twenty should both teams carry on their current curve.

Steve Gerrard Gerrard
He kisses the badge on his chest
Then puts? in a transfer request
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.
Thanks Modo

Rubbish song though. If I ever wrote a song so dull and turgid I'd be banned from these boards quick smart. As 6CM's self appointed songsmith I'd expect nothing less. 😉

Thanks Modo

First time I heard it was live in an away game against West Ham. No I'm not a closet scum supporter.
Was kinda surprised that they were singing about us.

No way you would be banned for being dull and turgid,
The mods have have to ban too many others for the same offense 😉

Manchester United fans taunting Liverpool rivals with Hillsborough chant aren't just idiots, they're dishonest idiots

The chant that came from the Manchester United supporters in the K Stand at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon went like this: “The Lying Rag was right, you’re murderers.”

It was aimed at the Liverpool fans sitting away to their left, but what I found most sinister about it were the denials that followed.

It wasn’t about Hillsborough. Oh, no. How could anyone think that? Just the press chasing an agenda again.

Not about Hillsborough? Really?

Why mention The Lying Rag then, with the inevitable connection to be drawn about its front page headline after the Sheffield tragedy?

That’s what I find so bizarre: people sing these songs and then become unfeasibly angry when someone mentions it.

Are they ashamed? Are they playing some sort of sick game that allows them to accuse others of making it up?

You know what the truth is? The truth is that people who sing that song and then deny its meaning are not just idiots, they are dishonest idiots.

Hasn't these songs got an outing every year though?
What has changed that a journo like Ollie Holt feels he can seek the moral high ground about it now?
I think we all know.

We're not shit any more, fergie has gone and the media is being looked at very closely after the Hillsborough revelations and the phone hacking

Ultimately... Fuck em

Ollie Holt is just as much of a scumbag as those manc fans, out of all the journalists during the Suarez/Evra saga him and his paper were right on the front line giving our club and Suarez a massive kicking.

What did he have to say on the Terry/Ferdinand saga later on down the line?, fuck all, amazingly he was trying to justify it!, he even tweeted 'Is calling someone a black cunt really racist?' just astounding hypocrisy and cuntishness.

I know its not very gracious but hes one of those people that if he died in a car accident il'd think - Good!, fuck him.

Rodgers on the tactics that undid United:

"I wanted to play and have superiority on the inside. I like to flood numbers around the middle of the field in order to control and dominate the game.

"Manchester United's centre-halves drop off, so we could exploit the space in front of that with Raheem's speed and then introduce Philippe [Coutinho] to the game.

"We worked it the other way against Southampton, where we felt that we could play through and get it into Philippe, who could then open the game up, then bring Raheem into it later when it opens up.

"In this game, because of the pitch and the nature of Manchester United, being at home they have to attack, it would allow us to get round the back of their midfield. For a young player of 19 years of age, he is developing really well tactically.

"Both boys on the side - Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen - were exceptional. They very rarely get mentioned, especially Joe Allen. But the tactical intelligence of both to play on the side of a diamond, with Steven just in behind controlling and dictating the tempo, was very good."

Gerrard has been making comments recently about how rodger's tactics and tinkering with the team deserve alot of credit for the good results . And i also heard/read someone before the game mention how Rodgers seemed to have moved away from creating a barca style team to more of a dortmund one. So is it fair to say Rodgers himself is also learning and evolving in the job ? . He talked alot last year about his theories of football - short passing, winning the ball back in 6 seconds etc . Now though we don't see that style as much (i.e keeping the ball as much , we are more direct and pacey are we not ? ) .
So i wonder what caused him to change a little? the players at his disposal ? Changing his mind on the best tactics ? Or maybe just the team has understood the basics of what he wants to do so he can now expand on his tactics .
Whatever , it's interesting and positive to see .
