It was unquestionably a foul IMO, and would probably have been given as such had it been Agger clambering over Richards instead.

As for our inept marking, could that have something to do with Roy junking zonal marking and the players having to learn to adjust?

Does no-one else think it was a foul on Agger for the second goal? Richards was all over him and had his hands over his shoulders.

Also, I'm not sure why we left their striker and best player completely unmarked in the box

Yeah, I have mentioned that.

Still think Danny could have shown a bit more grit though, rather than falling over and making a meal out of it

50% of our goals we have conceded have been directly from set pieces. That is a worse ratio than last year, bloody zonal man-to-man marking.

Anyway the game. Naive from Roy with a 4-4-2, but with Mascher refusing to play and Poulsen injured, we had no other experienced player for CM. City were not superb, but we were just fucking gash. As poor technically as I have seen for a long time. No tempo or pressure to our closing down, and lacklustre in the tackle. No real width from either flank, zero penetration, and Gerrard and Torres really struggled to influence the game at all. Torres cannot play upfront with another striker, when he does it seems to reduce the goal threat he carries.
Still, only one game and we must take 6 points from the next two games, or there will be some serious serious pressure on Roy.

Roy mentioned he was unfit after playing last Thurs, ditto Aurelio.

Strange decision to have him on the bench. Cant we have taken Shelvey.

The fact of having two strikers does not necessarily mean a more attacking approach. We're going to be awful today. Anonymous in the middle with Lucas, agricultural in the wings, putrid up front with N'gog taking away all the space that Torres loves to exploit, and hoofball from the back due to our total lack of guile in midfield.

Gerrard is going to run around and battle and be frustrated with the lack of football in the side. Torres will have one of his sulky days. We'll lose without scoring.

Prove me wrong. Please.

Can I borrow your crystal ball please?

Hardly a crystal ball mate. Any idiot who has half an understanding of how we play and how shit Lucas and N'gog are could have predicted that.
