This is good news if true. Now the problem is we have an African beat to the attack - still missing another samba beat - its all gone quiet at Chelsea, and Uniteds interest in Lucas Moura - I wonder - I wonder !!!

Bein Sports France are saying Mahrez is inbound for £50m....

Breaking news....

Now that Phil is gone which I didn't think would happen until the summer I'm happy if he get him.

He'll score and create and more importantly stretch teams when and if Mane/Salah are rested injured.

He holds onto the ball better - more physically able in my view and probably more faster. Also - never passes backwards or sideways - always looking for the forward pass and has better vision. More importantly - we know he can play consistently for a season plus has a PL winners medal.

If we let Coutinho go without having another attacking midfielder lined up I'd be amazed.

Not cos we're so good at shit like that, but cos I can't see Klopp allowing it when considering how carefully he's rotated our players to avoid January burnout.

I'd be interested to see how much Mahrez has played in the last month. If it's a fair bit then you can bet he'll be bedded in really slowly.

This will be the 3rd African Right winger Klopp has bought, certainly not a like for like replacement for Coutinho.
I'd hoped we'd have a midfield playmaker lined up in the mould of Silva, Ozil, De Bruyne.

From what I've seen Keita can fit that role, but obviously not until the summer.
Our midfield 3 will have to rely heavily on Lallana for creativity, with Salah, Mane and Mahrez competing for the two wide spots either side of Firmino.

Not sure of his recemt form, but is Mario Gotze worth another look?

This is fucking weird - I just read the Sky report too - what the fuck is going on and how have we been linked like this - OR could it be that we are going for both of them ?

Look, Klopp has proven he won't buy for the sake of it.

It could be he wants mahrez long term so may grab him now, & he may well know he can't get who he wants to replace Coutinho for the summer, so he'll do without til then.

He's got precedent for this behaviour.

Well if Klopp could wait til now to get a CB we all knew we needed in thr summer then no surprise if he waits til the summer again when it's obvious we need to replace Coutinho

We're going to make do with what we have until the summer - ie Lallana.

Deep down, we all know this.

Same argument all over again though.

Replace now with someone to bolster the numbers or wait for the manager's first choice?

As I was with the whole VVD saga, I'm with Jules on this one, I'm sick of buying shitty average players, if we have to wait six months then we do.

The cost of those players over four or five years is astronomical & long term costs us getting players in due to salary concerns alone.

Whether we should have let Coutinho go before getting that replacement lined up is whole other argument though!

Well to be honest - I think based on what Klopp said - is that you cannot put a value on the spirit of the club itself - so I guess he is more than willing to let everyone go, without replacement because nobody can put a price sell the soul of the club. This is so FUCKED UP - and in the middle of a season and then we face the league leaders in our next game, along with Spurs just a point away from biting our arses off.
