I meant lemar is the big signing we will make in the summer
Mahrez will be a long term option too.. But he will fill the gap Coutinho will leave till Lemar comes in, in the interim

Mahrez is good isn't he? I'm okay with this. I don't want us to sell Coutinho at all but if he is going Mahrez will contribute until the summer. It would be madness to weaken ourselves so severely in Jan without getting someone in.
Mahrez is also a ball carrier which will be needed. Coutinho doesn't get enough credit for picking up the ball in deep positions beating his man and carrying the ball into advanced positions. His ability to turn right and left leaves the defender bamboozled. His 'stop-go' game is great. Mahrez has a bit of that about him too.

In actual fact based on stats and consistency over a season ...Mahrez wins without doubt. The problem is ... he is not from Brazil and we are getting him from another PL team. Its weird coz everything about him should suggest we are getting a better player but something in us suggests we are not.
You're talking like everything's a certainty. What are you basing this on?

As good as you guys are saying Lemar is - we know from history that french league does not translate to PL success. At least with Mahrez we would get PL quality guarantee. Fuck this is so risky.

Mahrez may be proven in this league, but he's hardly the creative focus we need. I don't know enough about Lemar to judge - isn't he cup-tied for Europe? We're short of numbers for Europe now - but if the manager rates him then it's hardly a basis to get so jittery. We've actually won quite a few games without Coutinho, you know.

However we've actually performed better without Coutinho (9-3-1) than with him (8-9-1) this season.
It's a cunny plan to cool down the interest for this player in a hot market only to suddenly give them a 20 M take it or leave it offer the last day of the window...

I don't like the idea of paying so much for Mahrez, but what he would add is instant premier league proven quality. That gives more time to get other players in the team who might need more time to settle. However, I can't see a world where we buy both Mahrez and Lemar. We would have too many attackers then in my view.
