Madrid get Real over Suarez swoop

£45-50m and I'm happy. He's great but fucking nuts, and I do wonder if now is a good time to sell while he's around 26-28 and very valuable, especially after the season he's just had, which he might never have again.

Half on a striker, half on a winger. We can be better off if we spend that sort of money even moderately well.

I defended him over the Evra incident, thought he was a tit biting Ivanovich. I think he owes the club and the supporters another year but if he goes he goes. Using those excuses, if true, are fucking pathetic. They're a cop out.

On the one hand I'd be gutted because he's fucking boss. On the other, I thought we'd never replace Torres but we did so would be quietly confident we'd do it again. Also, he's missing through bans for too many games. £50m and it's a no brainer I'm afraid. I'd be disappointed but hey Ho.

I'm not having this 'can you blame him' bullshit when it comes to Suarez seemingly wanting to leave.

Suarez, signed a new contract towards the end of the 2012 season, at a time when we were playing pig ugly football under Kenny and shortly after Suarez returned from his 8 game ban...wouldn't then have been the time to go if he wanted to?

I know alot's happened since then but much of the negative press he's received he's brought upon himself through his own stupidity and recklessness. Even still, his Club, Manager and fans have stood up for him and supported him.
On the playing side of things, Rodgers has got the best out of him and in buying players such as Coutinho and Sturridge he's bought players to compliment Suarez and generally the style of football and direction we're going is looking good after a dismal few years.

He owes us at least another season and if by then we're still lingering in 7th place then by all means go elsewhere. It'll be even more of a kick in the teeth as he doesn't go a few months without declaring his love for LFC, how happy he is in the City and how he wants to stay for as long as possible. Not the first player to say that and then fuck off but you'd like to think their can be exceptions.

Suarez made me love watching us play again. Coutinho plus Suarez plus Sturridge got me hoping again.
He can't leave.

I'm sure he'll find the Spanish press more forgiving and less intrusive that the English press.

Further to the Luis Suarez story in Marca, claims his release clause is/Real Madrid are willing to pay 47M€ and he will sign for four years.

Aye he's a goner by the looks of it. And we sometimes have the audacity to laugh at Everton. We're nothing more than a feeder Club nowadays.

Have fun people. I think I'll be doing something else on my Saturdays next season..

I've just got off the phone to one or two friends in the City. I don't like talking to them about "football business" because it just annoys me. And I feel like one day in a rage, I'll announce some info relating to sthg or other, which might compromise positions.

Anyway, Fenway have been punting the club round for quite a while now. However, within the past few months, they've become more and more apprehensive. If they can't sell it whole, they'd sell it in pieces. Much as the wretches before Fenway did.
So pressure is being put on Rodgers to cash in...

The lack of support for Luis over the Evra affair was lamentable. There wasn't much in the recent incident. And its clear Fenway just wanted to tick over. Or "consolidate our midtable position" as Henry strangely talked about.

I'm just sick of the whole "saccer business". This was a great, great club in World football. Nowadays its all talk about "brand" and "oh the others are run by sugar daddies". Over various forums, I've just read jawdropping nonsense. Its clear we are now firmly in the "selling club" bracket, and "sell to buy" as well.

The players and managers we've lost, and have been linked with losing now reads something like a Whos Who of world football.

To me, it makes as much sense as cheering for Royal Bank of Scotland. Some of us can see whats going on. The only reason I watched this "brand" this year was to watch Luis. We'd already lost so much, not least our status as a "football club" not "commercial brand".

Its just boring. I cant believe how the fans (the ones who understood what we were) just gave up.
I'll probably do some work with SOS next year. But to be honest, football is all bullshit these days. And so called supporters lap up all the cliched excuses coming from Boston and Ayre.

If we were Everton, I wouldnt have a problem with Luis going. But we're Liverpool for Christ's sake. But even Spurs and the like are our "betters" now, we're told.

Sorry, but we've all been had for mugs for too long. Don't bother arguing with me. If you have to be addicted to hope and kid yourself, thats up to you. But its not a sport anymore. And its certainly not our football club.
Load of crap..

PS I will be making another post, in reply to someone here. It concerns the accounts. But other than that, this "business" is just boring. And I've been a diehard for decades. I cant believe how far the club/ "brand" has fallen.

According to soccernet, Suarez told the Uruguayan radio station that he's sick of English press and could live without them.

Luis Suarez has suggested to Uruguayan radio station Sport 890 that the English press may force him out of Liverpool - and indicated he would be willing to sign for Real Madrid.

Suarez, 26, will serve out the remaining six games of the ten-game ban he was given by the Football Association for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanoivc at the start of next season. He has also been accused of diving, not to mention the racism storm involving Patrice Evra which resulted in an eight-game FA ban.
The striker has regularly featured on the back pages of the English newspapers due to his poor disciplinary record, and he now says that could lead to him leaving the Premier League.
When asked if there was any truth in the stories linking him to Real Madrid, Suarez said: "The desire to win with the big clubs is always there. I've talked to my agent, there's nothing concrete. To say no to Madrid would always be difficult and more so with the team they have.
"I have a contract with Liverpool, but it would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid. There are a lot of rumours in the transfer window, but you never know until firm offers are made.
"I'm happy at Liverpool. I'm happy because of the fans. I made a mistake, I'm human, but they've talked about me in ways they shouldn't have. My family have suffered and things got out of hand. My daughter and my wife have suffered. I'm not prepared to continue to put up with the English press.
"I love Liverpool, but if there is a chance of playing somewhere else... I suffered too much as a kid to get where I am to be attacked unfairly by the English press. They haven't appreciated me as a player, they've just judged my attitude."

We get GBP50m for him it won't be the end of the world. Latino players will always look to Spain as their Mecca. Regardless of whether we finish 3rd or 8th, that is the draw

P.s. I would imagine that 40M buyout clause is ridiculously low for a buyout clause let alone a buyout clause for a player of that obvious quality and I suspect most made up, but then this is LFC and we do seem to run things really well nowadays....

I thought he would stay. I thought maybe he might feel like he owed the club after sticking with him through the tough times. I'm now convinced he is going to go and go cheap. By cheap I mean 40 million. I'm gutted but not really surprised.

Devils advocate stance...

Spurs have sold their best players in recent years and have steadily consolidated their position as a top team in England. Perhaps selling your best players isn't the end of the world if you have smart people at the top...

Yet they stilll can't make the CL

He's talking shit there. The media are forever talking about how good a player he is. It is always followed by a 'but', granted, but that is his own fault. He hasn't been unfairly persecuted or anything.

I don't want to see him leave, because he is our best player by some distance, but if he is talking like this now (and assuming it hasn't been lost in translation somewhere) then he might as well go. Keeping him for another year will be pointless as unless he is just as good next season there will always be the suggestion that he isn't bothered as he doesn't really want to be here, and in any case we would just end up with the same thing again in January and next summer.

I just hope that we get a decent fee and spend it wisely
