Suarez has been a fantastic player for LFC but brought all the trouble on himself.Banned for18games in 2 seasons.I won't be sad if he leaves

I suppose after Thatcher shuffling off to the great tory party conference in the sky and old whiskey nose retiring we couldn't have all good news this year.

if he goes he'll currently be serving a band in 2 different leagues, i think he's trying to collect all the badges so to speak

It was fun watching the demise of Torres at Chelsea but I'm unsure how i'll react to watching Suarez celebrate at another club. I can see us turning on him very quickly.

God, he'll have some craic diving and feigning injury in Spain though.

Spanish football is going to resemble this soon enough:

I bet 'neutrals' will start liking him once he leaves us.

I don't hate Ronaldo half as much as I did at United.

Suarez has said what's being reported - and a bit more. he loves Liverpool, has his contract and implies he wants protection...

He doesn't want his family having another year like last year at the hands of the press.

It's clear he wants the club to protect him (needs to work on that himself, too) but the key is in the questions.

      1. The questions are leading and the tone of Suarez is deferential and humble about other clubs as it always is. He is very diplomatic

I reckon the deal is already all but done. By the looks of things, we're chasing new players all over the shop but the least important area to reinforce was striker, unless you know someone's on his way.

I'd like one more season of Suarez. Then I have no issues. But next season is our push on season.

clutching at straws there

Just when things are looking better for us....
We can't afford to part with him now.
He owes us one more season imo and if we don't get a top four place he has my blessing. Not that he needs it.

Perhaps.
All the translated reports are taken from AS which would try and put a positive pro Madrid spin on it.
FWIW I reckon he will go with the club's blessing if they can get a decent offer for him

clutching at straws there

Maybe, but Boardman is retweeting someone who has read the full interview in Spanish, not the few bits the papers use to make a back page story.

Still think he'll go now mind

Anyone got a transcript of this Suarez interview? In the original Spanish?

If that translation is true ( by jim) then luis is taking the piss.

How much more protection can the club give him.

Should be looking at himself First, club have backed him to hilt twice.

You don't get it you daft cunt - protection equals 3 bodyguards and a Saddam like control on the media so they leave him the fuck alone. Oh, and a bag of pretzels.

He wants the club to protect him? How? We've backed him to the hilt, we stood by him through the Evra incident, we had our hands tied with the bite incident because it was clear on TV, we said he was wrong, fined him and offered him counseling, we condemned the press treatment of him at every opportunity. The whole "protecting my wife and child" thing smacks of looking for a way out, it's just excuse making and if he was being honest completely he'd say he was staying and say he was going to cut the shit out and repay the faith and loyalty we've shown him, again.

Translation from Sport 890- Uruguayan radio.

"I have only words of gratitude for the people and the fans of Liverpool. I'm happy at Liverpool and I love Liverpool, I made a mistake, I accepted and I apologized, and then everyone talked about things that had nothing to do with that mistake. I have received critics (?) from everywhere and I'm a human, I stay on my feet cause I know how football is, but there's a lot they say that hurt me a lot and I have a family behind me that suffers too. "

"They have exceeded the limits and I'm tired. I am not willing to continue supporting British media"

I think I might get a Madrid season ticket instead.

Now it might seem stupid but one plus the easyjet returns every other weekend would be cheaper than the renewals in the centenary club.

Just tell him to pull a Fergie - stop talking to them full stop, and stick to what you do best - play footy, and they'll shut up.
