Madrid get Real over Suarez swoop

He's not clever enough

Au contraire, I think he's very smart - just extremely naive (or at least unaware of the following, "If you speak to a news agency in your country, it will get to England," and "If you do naughty stuff, even if it's on a footy pitch, and you get caught, you will get punished.")

This isn't the first time he's made comments about leaving when he's out of the country. He knows they're getting back here.

Given how stupid he was with his defence in the Evra incident I have difficulty believing he's some underhanded genius who bit a player on the pitch to wangle a move.

Fans need to really consider the pressure they put on the club over players. We, unnecessarily, tripled this cunts wages before the season because he'd leave otherwise, we backed him to the hilt over Evra because he'd leave otherwise.

Oh - I don't think he bit Ivanovic for any reason but he lost it ... But I think he doesn't make these comments for no reasons. He has every right to aspire to moving to one of the top continental clubs, but I don't think it's a come n' get me plea.

It's ok to triple your best players wages to be amongst the highest earners when he's shown how good he is ... it wasn't b/c he'd leave, it's because he's our best player and deserved to be paid for it ... and he rewarded us with 30 goals ...

We backed him to a hilt over Evra because it was necessary. In time, more light will come on this (from the players in Manure no less), but until then, I know your stance I don't think it needs rehashing.

I'm sorry Rosco, but I hope you don't count yourself in the "we" because you never backed him from day 1 of the Evra incident.

I'd be devastated if he left, but I can understand his motives. I really hope he gives us at least one more year.
I'd hate Real even more than I currently do if he goes there (but i don't think I will hate him).

Suarez doesn't owe us another season. He owes us 3. The length of his current contract. I hope he stays for longer than that but if he wants to leave- fucking sell the cunt.

Well, with this attitude you really can't expect any footballer to be loyal to any club.

There is no reason for them to be anyway. I know football is a little different to a normal job but it's still a job to them. We can't expect them to behave as fans.

I agree with that Rosco and keniget. Sadly.
But, there still can and should be some exceptions.

Quite, I've had two jobs in 4 years of my career, unless the money goes up fast, i'll probably change job again in 2-3years, and so on. If a footballer was to say such, he'd be destroyed.

Just when things are looking better for us....
We can't afford to part with him now.
He owes us one more season imo and if we don't get a top four place he has my blessing. Not that he needs it.

Yep. That's my take on the whole affair.

Reina's at an age where he's given us his best and "might" be looking to move on, you can't use it as a stick to beat Rodgers with given he's only had a season under his belt and has had us playing quite well, and you can't exactly level it at the owners given they've backed us well financially (even though Kenny spent poorly). Players have been leaving us for donkey's years - Rafa lost Owen and pretty much forced Alonso out, Mascherano and Torres walked out the club because of Rafa's departure (Rafa who left us in 7th place), so let's lose this pretense that we've suddenly started losing players because we're 7th, it's just hyperbole to feed your obvious agenda against he manager. It's been happening for years and it's nothing new because of our current predicament, the Reina point is only theoretical anyway yet you're acting like it's happened.

well i feel you've wasted your time writing that out because i honestly wasn't attacking rodgers individually with that post at all . I was talking more about how the club have been managed over a number of years by a number of people . All those parties can use many excuses but the facts are we've finished 7th,6th,8th and 7th . And there's no way that can't play a part in top players wanting to leave or being unwilling to join . If we were getting top 4 and competing for honours then i'm convinced they'd be alot happier to stay or sign . Ok the odd one might move for personal reasons or want a new challenge but that would be fine, especially if we used the money we generated from them wisely. We made a healthy profit on all those players mentioned yet didn't invest it well at all.

And just to set the record straight, i don't have an "agenda" against Rodgers . ok i haven't been lining up to suck his cock because i reckon he's everything to prove and still does . When he does i'll be happy to give him his dues .

I do wonder however if the last 5 games without him has made Mr Rodgers realise he isnt worth the effort.
Id rather we keep him and build but if he goes and we invest well we WOULD improve.
The good thing for me is that I dont believe we are a one man team. We hae Sturridge, Coutinho and Gerrard aswell. If Suarez does leave we need to replace him with at least 2 cracking players and we would improve.
Lets say (and it really is just an example) he goes to madrid for 30m and Khedira and then we bought Sanchez and Papadopoulos to replace him, we would have THREE top quality players to add to the THREE we have.
Thats a massive step forward.
But its about spending wisely if we need to.
I certainly dont want to panic yet.
And honestly these melodramatic shitfest posts help no one.
We heard all this last summer and yet we signed Allen, Borini, Assaidi, Sturridge and Coutinho for over 60m hardly the acts of some asset strippers.
And here we are signing players (Toure, Aspas, Alberto) before anyone else has even blinked.
Lets keep it a bit fucking sensible while all around us lose their heads.

Spurs could lose Bale
United new manager
Citeh new manager
Chelsea new manager
Everton new manager

We are not in flux.

Keep calm.

Honestly, if he wants to go - let him leave. It only goes to show that loyalty and gratefulness in football can be bought by money. I've always taken Suarez's public declaration of his loyalty and love for the club with a pinch of salt. There's a few nuts loose in the lad, maverick or not. And while I trust he meant what he said when he expressed his love for the club, I don't trust the volatile nature of his trigger-happy combustions.

The best players are always tempted continuously. Hey, even our very own Stevie almost succumbed. And that's why Carra is special 'cos that man is exactly the type of fella you'd want to go into any battle with. You can trust when the shitstorm hits you, he'll risk all to stand by you.

No single player is bigger than Liverpool - the club, the city, its people and its fans.

Agreed. Let's be honest. If he does stay how long will it be for? One year, Two? Three? The days of someone like Molby emigrating and becoming a local for the rest of his life are gone. He speaks Spanish, he could earn a lot more money and pay less tax, he could live in a better climate and challenge for titles and the Champions League every season. Even if he does love Liverpool his family and their health and happiness (and wealth) will always come first.
If he wants to go get the best price and move on.

Carra never ever had a club come in for him, so can't be included in this discussion. If he was 26 right now in a Liverpool side languishing mid-table and Madrid came in with an offer of 130k per week, we won't know how he'd react. Remember a couple of his interviews over the years where he said he'd move clubs if he were to be on the bench as a squad player?

im not getting my hopes up yet thats for sure, but i hope he stays. yeah we can survive without him, but there's no doubt that we're better with him. Sturridge for all his talent is made of glass, so we know he's going to spend a good few months a season out injured and he doesn't offer anywhere near the same workrate as suarez.

MORE LUIS SUAREZ

The agent of Liverpoolstar Luis Suarez claims the striker has no plans to leave Anfield this summer.
The forward was quoted as telling a Uruguayan radio station this week that it would be "very difficullt" to turn down Real Madrid, fuelling talk of his impending exit.
Bernabeu president Florentino Perez gave the story further credence when he admitted Suarez, along with Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale, was on his radar.
But Suarez's agent, Pere Guardiola, has told Sky Sports News' chief news reporter Bryan Swanson that Suarez remains "happy" at Liverpool and has no plans to leave in this summer's transfer window.
Suarez signed a long-term deal at Anfield last year and scored 30 goals in 44 appearances last season, but was also banned for 10 games for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
