He's waltzing around the pitch like David Silva. Looks a really special talent.
Yep, I really hope Klopp capitalises on Elliott's confidence and keeps him in and around the first team. The last thing this kid needs, is to be with the U23s.
Play him in the domestic cups, I say.

You see that goal from Wilson and think about the amount of tight games where we’re restricted to fannying about around the edge of the box, and you think hmmmmm.
I agree, but you'd ideally want more cause bar the goal, Wilson was really average.
I've changed my mind, if we can't get a back up keep him.

I’m worried Curtis Jones is gonna break Eliott in training, because that lad has skipped into the fringes of the squad in 2 games.

I agree, he isn't always contributing, but he is capable of very special things. I wouldn't want him in a game where we're fighting for control against a top 6 team, but against a team who are only interested in two banks of defenders with the odd long ball, he definitely brings something to the party.

I don't really get Wilson. He seems to have everything but you never really notice him.

He was the same playing for the u18s as hands down the most talented player on the pitch.

Is it a mental thing?

That's true, I think the rest caught up to him and he suddenly didn't look so dominant anymore. Cause to me, the U23s was the TAA show.

Maybe Wilson's about to come out of that tricky two years after initial breakthrough.

Having the ability to consistently score from 20+ yards in tight games is no mean talent.

Seems a lot like Shaq in many ways. Brings something but maybe not what is needed to get control of a game.

You've obviously never seen him play for Switzerland. This guy on his best days is a magician in midfield. Especially his passes.

I think it’s mostly a physical thing - he doesn’t have the blistering pace or physicality to make players bounce off him. So he has only a few episodes per game where his can make a meaningful impact and that’s why it looks like he drifts in and out of games, IMHO.

Despite all that, I’ve always liked him - he had a good attitude and his touch and technique are top-notch and capable of producing real magical moments.

Like a young Lallana?

Lots of encouraging things in the first half (didn’t watch second)

Hoever quality
Lallana once settled a good quarterback. Exposed against teams attacking though.
Salah & Bobby gaining sharpness quickly
Keita looked right up to speed
Shaq energetic but passing radar slightly off

Klopp had already said exactly that. Keeping him with the first team squad.

I have and agree - that is his special thing (sometimes a worldwide) - but he is older.

But, that skill set is still not optimal for controlling a game - more for unlocking a game.

At Switzerland ain't Liverpool - just like Derby ain't Liverpool.

Just finished the 2nd half. Lots of positives all around. Best pre-season performance by some distance; we essentially fielded 3 teams and each one showed something interesting. Lots of players caught the eye: Hoever, Gomez, Lallana at the 6, Larouci back fit, Keita looked stronger, Fabinho absolute monster, Harry Wilson scored a cracking goal... But Harvey Elliott – what a talent! The kid just turned 16 in April and he was running the show. Didn't look out of place once and glided around the pitch, great vision for teammates and confidence in his own ability. Wow! Really can't wait to see more.

A few small negatives: Brewster had another weak game, even had Klopp ripping into him for not making the correct run and then failing to close down a defender. Alisson showed some rust with the worst blunder I've ever seen from him (didn't affect him one iota though), Salah's shooting boots were lost somewhere in the luggage and Ox still doesn't seem to enjoy himself. But overall, this game has finally filled me with optimism about the upcoming season.
