Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

So you'd rather give Arsenal an advantage for 4th place? That makes sense?

Do you really think Suarez would not play seriously considering the importance of this year for him professionally?

I dont buy this line of thinking, he is never going to be dropped from the Uruguay team and there are plenty of players who wont put any effort in this season from Jan onwards to save themselves for the world cup, south americans are notorious for it

The fucker signed a contract - that's it - end of story.

If he wants to go into dispute - fine - suspend him on zero pay, the PFA can pay his wages and we hold on to his playing registration until we receive whatever compensation we seem appropriate, or his contract runs out - whichever occurs sooner - we have 3 years.

In the meantime we should be bidding £20,000,001 each for Carzola & Wiltshire and Rodgers should be in the press talking about he'd like to conclude the deal amicably.

Alternatively we sell the fucker for peanuts but argue that every goal scored remains the intellectual property of Liverpool FC, so should be added to our score and not Arsenals.

We own assists as well, so any goals he assists in don't belong to them either and we should be allowed to claim a significant portion of them.

You are not part of the problem Ross ... Sorry mate, you're not and won't be. Neither is Mark or anyone else. At the end of the day, it's people who want what's best for the club ... and selling him to Arsenal, so they finish 4th next year ahead of us won't help us ... Or getting 40-50 million with a few days before the transfer deadline - considering our previous track record - isn't exactly what neither of us are keen on seeing happening.

You're being a bit naive if you don't think a bunch of swivel eyed loons who are looking at every single thing FSG do with suspicion because they believe they're asset stripping and going to sell the club don't have any impact on FSG, who are notoriously image conscious.

They practically admitted the reason they signed Carroll was they knew there would be pressure if they didn't spend the money straight away - and they didnt want to look exactly like the last owners.

Some reality has to be brought to bear on that section of our fanbase - which is very significant

It's stupid to keep Suarez if he doesn't want to stay, we'd lose 20 mill by playing a sulky striker, it doesnt make any sense

No we won't & Yes it does. It severely weakens Arsenal's challenge , strengthens our own, we won't get less than 40M for him next season (or January) for a player with 2 yrs left on his contract, and for whom we've already flexed the muscle once, from Spain/France, it gives a demonstration that player power will no longer be tolerated at Anfield (fuck me once ...) and to cap it all there is no way Suarez would not give his all on the pitch in a World Cup year and with RM / A.N.Other in the wings.

50M + and overseas if you please .. or play another season here.

Oy - keep FFF out of this discussion.

I don't think the fans' reception for Suarez, or lack there of, is affecting Henry. The Carroll thing was really on in their tenure - and they wanted to 'prove themselves'.

RedStar - do you think Suarez, and the importance he puts on representing his country, would not want to play every game and be in peak condition for the WC? He wouldn't do anything to endanger that - and that means playing every game as only he knows how.

We should be making complaints about Arsenal and their comments and actions re Suarez.

Just like Suarez should have sued Evra.

When will people cop on that tit for tat is the stupidest fucking way to approach any situation.

Eyes on the prize Hansern - what do we want, how do we leverage our situation to get it. Nothing else matters

Gordon Taylor has confirmed that the PFA have been asked to mediate in the ongoing row between Luis Suarez and Liverpool FC.
The Reds striker made public his desire to leave Anfield last night, accusing the club of breaking a promise to sell him if they failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Suarez claims he has a clause written into his contract, signed exactly a year ago today, which enables him to leave Liverpool if they receive an offer of more than £40m.
The Reds rejected a bid from Arsenal of £40m and one pound last month, and believe that the clause in Suarez's contract merely compels them to inform the player of the offer, and then negotiate further if they so wish.
Suarez, though, has insisted he is willing to take his case to the Premier League for arbitration, as he looks to force through a transfer before the September 2 deadline, and has also contacted the PFA, the footballers' trade union, for assistance.
PFA chief executive Taylor said: “We have been asked to try and help to sort the situation out and we have been trying to do that.
“These buy-out clauses have caused no end of problems in the past and they continue to do so because of the way they were drafted at the time.
“He believes the £40m amount that is mentioned, if that is offered that gives him the right to go.
"Liverpool, from their side, are saying that is a minimum figure from which they will consider negotiation and of course they will want to keep the player, unless they replace the player with someone as good or better, which is not going to be easy in a short period of time.
"We have raised this issue with the Premier League, that buy-out clauses should have a great deal more clarity because I’ve never seen one yet that hasn’t caused trouble.
"It’s also down to discussions Luis had with the manager as well and of course you have the owners involved.
“There are different ways it can be interpreted. If it goes to the Premier League it will take time and the window is then closed. It is a delicate situation and we are trying to help.
"The lad has had a chequered past but he is also an extremely good footballer and this is about a situation on the interpretation of a contract.
"You want contracts to be straight forward and clear and on this issue it is not clear. It is open to different interpretation by lawyers so, at the end of the day, it is about if an agreement can be reached."

This is getting ridiculous and like i said , if he manages to force a move because of this "clause" then heads should roll. And i mean Ayre and anyone else involved in this shite . It's embarrassing .

Suarez has a contract. I don't for a minute believe that the club would stand firm on it if we didn't believe that any clauses would hold up to scrutiny. One thing about the John Henry and Co., they know how to make money and leverage position.

Suarez is a dumb fuck who barely understands English, I highly doubt he's right about the clause in the contract. The club will be proved right if he does take us to a tribunal, but ideally the club will be shot of him before this takes place.

This is partly why I'd have took the £40M Arsenal offered us and spent it by now and moved the hell on. He'll be leaving and there's no point having an extra £5-10M if we've got no time left to spend it. We should have learnt from last season that the 'leaving it til January' strategy doesn't work.

Henry is adamant that Suarez will not be going. Speaking to a meeting of the Liverpool Supporters' Club in Oslo ahead of the game against Valerenga, the principal owner said: "I don't know why people are asking us if we are selling the club or the best players, because we are not. We like to buy stuff, not sell."

Manager Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, told a press conference in Oslo on Tuesday night that Suarez remains a key part of his squad.

He did, though, hint that there was truth in reports suggesting Liverpool would consider a bid upwards of £50 million.

Rodgers said: "We have no intention of selling one of the best players in the world to one of our rivals. Luis Suarez is very much a Liverpool player and there is no real value in discussing it unless someone comes close to the valuation."

I think you're probably right about the contract as Taylor has merely offered to mediate.

In my opinion though you're missing out the consequences that allowing a move will bring:
we would strengthen a direct rival, we would be selling for less than we value him at, and other players at the club may decide to follow the Suarez template and attempt to force moves in future. The club will have significantly weakened it's bargaining power and it's integrity.

This looks to me as if it's going beyond football and into politics.

Why the hell would we give Suarez a clause to leave for as little as 40M if we didn't qualify for the CL when we just employed a new fucking manager? Either this is a mistake on the clubs part Ayre and that, or Suarez is just a cunt. I know which one i'd go with. Fuck this just sell the next offer we recieve if any 40M whatever and move on.

Are there any sensible Arsenal forums out there? Just interested to see how they think this will turn out. The one or two I've tried seem a little RAWKish.

Hes more likely to be in peak condition if has a rest til January and then skulks off somewhere else. Hes a selfish little prick, I really wouldn't put anything past him at this point, hes sued one club to move, now hes threatening to take us to arbitration, the idea that he got banned to engineer a move from Ajax cant be disregarded either given his recent behaviour. He does whatever it takes to get what he wants, nobody thus far has pushed him to the point where he has downed tools like Tevez, but I dont believe for one second his above that sort of shit

I love the fact he keeps waving his contract around as some sort of magna carta sets out his rights, all the while ignoring the basic fact of the contract is that we own his registration for 3 more years and unless we agree to sell him then he is legally obliged to play for us. He didnt have a problem with the contract when he signed it, or when he collected his wages despite being inelligible to play

Nobody has had this much misguided faith in a piece of paper since Neville Chamberlain

I'm afraid our motto, for the short term, should be: What would Levy do? Because he's the only one who seems to have mastered the dark art of being the kind of ruthless bastard who controls such situations. We've done okay so far but we mustn't lose our nerve now.

Can't disagree, but the one thing that has struck me is how little he or spurs actually say.

I think his success is mainly due to a clever control of the media, be it through established contacts, bribery or simply leaking the right thing at the right time to the right people.

How the fuck are notoriously stingey Arsenal going to pay his wages - and why do they want him when he will be off to Spain next season anyway. All very wierd

Absolutely. Though in fairness to Liverpool Bale has made it easier for Levy to control the situation as he's not been blabbing to the press every five minutes.

I absolutely agree with this - if we sell, we sell on our terms - not Arsenals, not Suarez or his agent - ours.

We get what we want - that is all.
