Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

I have no problem with anything he does as long as one of the following scenarios plays out

  • We sell him for a solid fee and reinvest the money this window. If he is sold to a BPL club, an extra 10M premium should be tacked on
  • We keep him, and he keeps his form from last season and scores enough goals
Even if he can't secure a move away this offseason, I can't see him putting in any less effort unless we reject a sizeable offer. The effort and drive to win has never been a question in the past, and if he performs poorly, nobody will want him next offseason anyways.

These were what Ajax fans were treated to previously

April 2009
"AS Roma, that's an example of a club I wouldn't leave Ajax for at this moment. Villarreal in Spain, same story. If clubs like that make an offer this summer, I will surely stay. I want to do it like Huntelaar. He had set his mind on the absolute top after Ajax and he didn't accept any other offers. And now he's succeeding at the top. Another step forward in between wasn't necessary for Klaas.

The two Spanish top clubs are an option for me. I know the city of Barcelona well since my family-in-law is living there. My wife Sofia and I are going to visit them regulary, not every week though. I love it there. But will I join Barcelona one day? Or when? You just cannot know that.

I've intensely thought about it over the past weeks. We're one year before the World cup. Uruguay is competing for the qualification an I'm a fixed started in the national team. So I don't want to risk that spot for a club under the absolute top. At Ajax, I know what I have and what I still can win next season. Personally, I think I can be happy about this season. I feel good on the right wing. I prefer that position over being centre forward. Coming from the wing, you have more room for the one-on-one."

Dec 2009
Ajax winger Luis Suarez has publicly announced on the Catalan radio program La Lliga a RAC1 that his "dream is to play at Barcelona".

The Uruguayan footballer, who is on holiday with his wife's family in the Barcelona suburb of Castelldefels, commented that "signing for the Blaugrana would be an opportunity that he could not refuse and would realise one of his dreams".

July 2010
Manchester United and Barcelona are the elite clubs in Europe,” Suarez said. “If they call, you listen. I would only leave Ajax for a team in that category.”

Jan 2011
"If I move I want to join a real football club where they play good, attacking football," Suarez said in the Sunday Mirror. "I will decline any offer from clubs like Shakhtar Donetsk or [Zenit] St Petersburg where they offer you sacks full of money.

"I've an obsession to win trophies. I am a South American with the mentality to win."

I think like always with Suarez (and players like him), you have to accept the rough with the smooth.

We've not been properly challenging for honours for a long time now and consequently our star players are always going to be up for grabs. It's on us as a club to do something about it. In a way we're kinda lucky that we still have a star player - I wonder if that will still be the case when Suarez leaves or whether for the first time in a long time we'll be missing that star quality.

On an aside, I wonder if Gerrard regrets staying at Liverpool these days. This is a sad way to end a career that deserved to have more success than it did.

LIVERPOOL forward Luis Suarez has been advised to leave England if he engineers a summer departure - by Gus Poyet.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners, who are thought to be willing to up their initial £30m offer.

Suarez hasn't been shy in coming forward about his desire to leave and had talked up a move to Real Madrid.

And Poyet, who was recently dismissed by Brighton, thinks Suarez has only two options when it comes to his future.

"If I was Suarez, I would either stay at Liverpool or leave England for good," Poyet told Uruguayan radio station Sport890.

"Him going to Arsenal won't change a thing. If he wants to move, it's probably because of the way the media treats him as a Liverpool player, but that won't change if he moves to another club in England.

"If it's just for the sake of playing in the Champions League [possible Arsenal move], well, that's up to Luis to decide.

"But I'd be a lot more drastic: I'd stay put at Liverpool or leave England all together."

What constitutes a long time? We were runners up in the league in 2009. We have been in two European Cup finals in the last 8 years. We were last in the Champions League in 2010.
We are still Liverpool. If he wants to leave fuck him, get £50 million and buy someone who wants to play here.
I'm sure Gerrard won't think of finishing his career at one of the most prestigious and successful clubs in the world as 'sad'.
We may be having to try a different model to succeed now, as the world of football has become a plaything, and teams have become trinkets, to gangsters and oil rich tribes people but fuck me, WE ARE STILL LIVERPOOL!
Have some fucking pride people!

Suarez to Arsenal? Fuck that. They are a shite club that just snuck into 4th and celebrated as if they won the European cup (which, by the way, the never have and never will).
Joke.

Selling another player to out rivals sends out the wrong signal, should avoid at all costs.

The day we sold Torres to Chelsea we admitted we were no longer a rival to them. We need to reclaim that rivalry and stop the media and opposing fans treating us like a demented old piss-soaked woman on the bus.

Chelsea competing league titles and European trophys, sadly they are on another level to us.

The arse are a joke and id be fuming if we sold to a team who would be challenging us for 4th, a real test ayre and the owners....

Isn't Suarez part of the problem why we're aren't challenging for honours with his lengthy bans contributing significantly?

Yes. It always is when individuals stand aside and claim the rest of the team has failed them. Reina was at it a couple of years ago. They have to take some of the responsibility if they think of themselves as part of the team. And in Suarez's case he caused immense damage to the club, the team and the management with his clashes with the FA. None of that will have been worth it if he goes now.

Evening Standard reporting that Arsenal going to increase their offer and Higuain staying at Madrid.

Interesting...

That cost us 4th spot and Kenny's job that season.
PSG are offering 68M Euros for Cavani, we should get at least 50 for Suarez

I really can't see a way back for the cunt.
He's starting to panic because Madrid don't seem that keen on him.
A wizard on the pitch but an insufferable little prick off it.
The cheek of the fucker, whoring himself around Europe whilst on a 2 month ban for being a scumbag.
He doesn't care about the fans nor the club.
45m move on and sell the ugly degenerate cunt.
I don't want to see him in a Liverpool shirt again.

You gotta think that Man City, PSG or Monaco might throw a cheeky bid in.... if so the price could escalate.... all good from our perspective

Only if you assume that we could have a player just as good playing for 38 games a season, which is a dangerous assumption to make.

In short, the answer to that question is "no".
I disagree and think that you're clearly missing the point. No assumptions of the sort were made.

Suarez ban (racism) cost us 4th place and Kenny got the sack. Again he got banned for idiotic behaviour (biting). His scoring exploits last season was a catalyst for us winning games granted that the latest ban hasn't hurt us that much with Coutinho and Sturridge stepping into the breach.

We are always stronger with Suarez than without. He was the best striker in the league. Needless to say, his bans do contribute directly to us not progressing up the league and fighting for the CL spots.

I'd argue that you've missed the point but never mind.

If you or anyone else think that his ban cost us 4th place that season you need your head examining. We finished near enough 20 points off 4th place that season and that was mostly down to the fact that Kenny bought the wrong players for huge sums of money and the team as a whole wasn't very good.

My wife said something similar the other night. I think it went. 'If the idiot wasn't banned all the fucking time maybe we would already be in the Champions League.' Or similar.

We should get at least 68M. Theres no way he's an inferior player!!

He's a nobhead and a liability though.

I hope this isn't arsenal finally flashing the cash and actually going all out for Suarez, making a statement about their ambition in the process. If so that's 4 clubs we can't compete with financially.

Matters not who actually missed the point because its a moot point as it stands.

We must either flog him for an amount that meets our valuation or simply keep him and get on with it.

So what. Its part and parcel. We didnt give Ajax less than what he was worth at the time because he has just bitten a player. We should be firmly in control of what we get if he leaves.

I couldn't disagree more.

The day we sold a crocked past his best striker for a whopping fee despite his reputation for being world class was the day we grew up as a club.

You could not be more wrong. You could try. But you would fail.

We are firmly in control but obviously he's shown what happened at Ajax is no one off and any club that buys him might be buying a player with a ban to serve? It will at the very least be used as a stick to beat the price down with.

I know Suarez has been banned here and there but has he ever missed a game because of injury? Seems to me Sturridge has already missed more games through injury than Suarez has missed through bans. In other words, I think Suarez's excellent durability entitles him to the odd ban in lieu of sick days. It is only fair.

Which is why we cant back down. Im sorry but I dont buy that there's 18 million as la chacal had suggested between the two players because of Suarez's disciplinary record.

Nah. You get your price beating down if you're a trader who wants to sell his wares. We're not(this time), the club has stated that he is not for sale, so a tempting offer of at least full market value with maybe a handy €5m on top or they can go elsewhere and shop.
