Ludicrous Rumours

What's being discussed now (this LB, the 24 year old 'next Ronaldinho') just seem very very underwhelming signings.
Early days, and these all sound like squad players. Something we desperately need.

The exciting signings will come

They are either squad fillers OR klopps has two lists. One for CL one for EL, Luan and Robertson aren't top tier players, but they aren't terrible players either.

They'd perform a 'decent' job. However some of us thought Konchesky was decent before he came to us.

Liverpool will let Mamadou Sakho leave this summer for £30m

Liverpool will sanction Mamadou Sakho’s departure from Anfield this summer but will seek at least £30m for the France international, whose loan spell at Crystal Palace proved so critical to the club staving off the threat of relegation.
Palace will attempt to make the centre-half’s move permanent but must weigh up whether the financial package required is viable before their fifth campaign in the top flight. Sakho, who had been frozen out at Anfield and was not in Jürgen Klopp’s plans, made eight appearances after joining close to 1am on transfer deadline night, with Palace winning five of the seven matches he completed.

A knee ligament injury sustained against Tottenham Hotspur last month curtailed his loan spell – Sam Allardyce conceded last week that Sakho is unlikely to feature at Manchester United on the final afternoon – though the player has undergone his rehabilitation at Palace and in his native France. He was at Selhurst Park on Sunday for the 4-0 victory against Hull City, which guaranteed Palace’s Premier League status and took part in the post-match lap of appreciation.
His reputation has been enhanced by his Palace performances, notably in wins against Chelsea and Arsenal, with Allardyce and the chairman, Steve Parish, having acknowledged the positive impact the 27-year-old made. That form has led effectively to an increase in his valuation, however, with Liverpool aware that Palace raised up to £30m through their sale of Yannick Bolasie to Everton last season and prices having potentially risen since then. Their asking price is expected to start at that level in the knowledge that left-footed centre-halves of Sakho’s calibre are at a relative premium.
“You can’t con anyone that he didn’t make a massive difference,” Parish said, talking to the Holmesdale Radio podcast after the victory against Hull. “We won some massive games with him. He’s a really nice person, a big character, he’s got the respect of all the players, and it’s one we’d like to do. But, of course, we have a lot of things we need to do in the summer, and the money needs to work for us and for Liverpool.
“I’m sure there’ll be a negotiation on that. If we can make it work, of course we’d like to, I’m not going to try and be coy or clever on that. He’s a very good player and I think he likes being with us. We like him. Let’s hope we can do it.”
Palace and Liverpool were engaged in a similar negotiation last summer over Christian Benteke, with the Belgian moving to the capital for an initial £27m.
Although Sakho has enjoyed his spell at Selhurst Park, it remains to be seen whether he is willing to make that move permanent even if a fee is agreed, or whether he will explore the possibility of playing in European competition elsewhere. His former club Paris Saint‑Germain are not believed to be interested and he has stated publicly he could not play for their bitter rivals, Marseille. Nice, who will compete in the Champions League next season, may be an option and clubs in Italy could also be of interest. Southampton may be seeking a left-sided centre-half given Virgil van Dijk’s anticipated departure for Chelsea.

[article]Di Marzio reports that the Serie A side have agreed on a deal to sign Atalanta ace Franck Kessie. The Ivorian midfielder has been a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United after his breakthrough campaign.

Only 20-years-old, the powerhouse has been one of the key reasons for Atlanta’s terrific season.

Their 1-1 draw against Milan at the weekend effectively ensured they would finish above the Rossoneri, securing Serie A’s last Europa League spot in fifth place. However, Milan are still a much richer club than Atalanta.

That’s why they couldn’t resist such a big offer from the European heavyweights.

Milan will fork an initial €28 million which could rise with performance-related bonuses.

Kessie will sign a five-year contract and earn €2.5 million annually.[/article]

@Rosco

That's a sign of a club with endless budget, sell a player for a small fee and then buy them back later x 10 the price. I guess they can afford to do that.

Unlike Soton I don't think Leipzig will sell any of their key players this Summer, one at most (Keita looks the likeliest candidate if anyone).

Those 5 aren’t bad players but personally I would prefer 2 / 3 glitzy players, especially if we make CL.

Keita isn't glitzy ? Fuck me, where the hell have you two been?! He's one of the most admired midfielders in Europe and if Klopp can pull off his transfer it will be the feat of the Summer.

When I think I think of glitzy signing, I thinking of an attacking player with flair and guile, who comes into the first team. Players like Douglas costa, isco etc.

Erm, you guys do realize that "glitzy" is not a complimentary term yes?

glitzy: ostentatiously attractive (often used to suggest superficial glamour)
glitzy: bright, exciting, and attractive but with no real value

No, I don't want any glitzy guys.

I think they do, but thats kind of the point.

People want sexy sounding transfer deals. Nobody considers whether it makes sense

Yep, people who show boat and show moments of genius but can also sulk and be lazy. That's my definition. To be glitzy and hard working well that costs alot of money.

So Chelsea will get Andreas Christensen back from his 2-year-loan stint with Gladbach and are at the same time rumoured hot on Virgil van Dijk's heels.

In other words, they could end up being in a pretty large central defender surplus with Cahill, Luiz, Zouma and Ake already there why we should perhaps be lurking in the shades.

And here is where it gets really interesting, as reports from Germany suggests that Gladbach have been given an option to buy Andreas Christensen permanently for a figure of £17M if he doesn't feature in Chelsea's starting XI plans at the beginning of next season - as the player himself has made it clear that he has no intention to go back to London only to sit on the bench.

This all may seem a bit, well, arrogant from a 21-year-old defenders stance, but if you look at it this way, if you know you're talented (voted Gladbach's Player of the Year in his first season there, at 19-years-old, and might well win it again this season) and you really want to improve your game still, you'd be stupid to accept to play 2nd or 3rd or maybe even 4th violin anywhere. (I am not sure how common this is but Eriksen denied Chelsea and City more than once as he had no intention to start way back in the pecking order and Dolberg has just recently ruled out moves to both of the Manchester clubs trying to avoid the same scenario).

Needless to say I think he could be the answer to our defensive woes as he's not only cool as a cucumber, got amazing awareness, high top speed and a very calm head, but more importantly he could very well be a reincarnation of Alan Hansen (both in style and looks).

[bcolor=#ffffff]Oh, and he's Danish. [/bcolor]
