Ludicrous Rumours

So Chelsea will get Andreas Christensen back from his 2-year-loan stint in Gladbach and are at the same time rumoured hot on Virgil van Dijk's heels.

In other words, they could end up being in a pretty large central defender surplus with Cahill, Luiz, Zouma and Ake already there why we should perhaps be lurking in the shades.

And here is where it gets really interesting, as reports from Germany suggests that Gladbach have been given an option to buy Andreas Christensen permanently for a figure of £17M if he doesn't figure in Chelsea's starting XI at the beginning of next season - as the player himself has made it clear that he has no intention to go back to London only to sit on the bench.

This all may seem a bit, well, arrogant from a 21-year-old defenders stance, but if you look at it this way, if you know you're talented (voted Gladbach's Player of the Year in his first season there, at 19-years-old, and might well win it again this season) and you really want to improve your game still, you'd be stupid to accept to play 2nd or 3rd or maybe even 4th violin anywhere. (I am not sure how common this is but Eriksen denied Chelsea and City more than once as he had no intention to start way back in the pecking order and Dolberg has just recently ruled out moves to both of the Manchester clubs trying to avoid the same scenario).

Needless to say I think he could be the answer to our defensive woes as he's not only cool as a cucumber, amazing awareness, high speed and a very calm head, but more importantly he could very well be a reincarnation of Alan Hansen (both in style and looks).

[bcolor=#ffffff]Oh, and he's Danish. [/bcolor]

Mad guess here, he's Danish, isn't he KHL?

Why would Chelsea sell to us?

I'm going to go out on a hunch and suggest that Gullit will be loaned out again next season, which would leave a back three of Cahill, Christensen and Luiz, with Zouma on the bench.

Or they'll sell Zouma and keep the love child.

Playing 3 at the back you need at least 5 CBs. And they also have Azpilicueta of course.

Chelsea will sell all their surplus defenders to PSG at $50M+ each

Guardian reported today that Bergovic and Nathan Ake are headed to Bournemouth for 30m. Bournemouth's Russian owner is flinging the cash around and we were beneficiaries last season: Ibe for 15m, Smith for 6m... we should get on that boat and sell them Flanagan, Wisdom and Stewart while it's still afloat.

It's reported they offered £10m for Gomez

No rumours, sorry, but i'd just love us to for once go out a make a statement signing (or three).

Van Dijk, Keita and Mbappe (he's phenominal). Those 3 in a first 11 could win us the league (if everyone was lucky enough to stay fit).

I'd pad the squad with cheap fillers like Robertson/Defoe or even keep the likes of Markovic/Sahko/Moreno/Studge/Karius, if it meant getting those 3 in.

Quality over quantity.

No chance for Mbappe for obvious reasons. And he will costs 80m at least, league winner, age, demand and all that.

Mbappe's agent via Marca have claimed that we bid €75m euros and it was rejected out of hand.

Obviously take it with the bucket of salt needed.

We are once again being name dropped as suitors by eager agents looking to cash in elsewhere.

United bid €75m and it was turned down, common knowledge. Are you sure you read that right ?

Unless by 'we' you mean ...... 😱

I want dembele and sessegnon .

Im not bothered about the rest, oh and pulisic. Them three please Klopp

I love this shit. Properly exciting. Even if it is total fantasy*.

*I don't mean our bid,maybe we have.

Ok, you got me. I'm in!

Sign of the times that I'm just happy our name is being used in respect to GOOD players. It's worse that in recent years we've been used as stalking horse for shit ones!

I'd rather we spend 80m on a phenomenal talent like Mbappe (18 years old!) than taking a punt and overpaying on a 30-40m (Benteke/Carroll)esque striker who we will be lucky to sell on for a better price. Mbappe wouldn't be on astronomical wages either (which is usually the stumbling block). And to think, in 7 years, he will still be 25 and we could sell on for 120m if all goes well.

Just watching him play, he's frightening in all 3 of the attacking positions (left, right and centre). Exactly the sort of versatile, hard working striker that Klopp would love. The thought of him and Mane running riot at Anfield, or them playing on the counter away from home. It's mouthwatering.

How much is Godin worth? We could probably get 3-5 seasons out of him.

Looks like a real leader at the back and seems really settled at athletico. Taken the mickey out of by Benzema recently in a high profile match though, not his finest hour for sure.
