I went to write about Mignolet there when I summed up performances & realised he'd had practically nothing to do!
 
Schmeichel seems a bit pissed. Maybe it's a Dutch thing and just how they talk, cf Van Gaal.

We won't win this unless we change it, no pace or genuine threat at all.
 
Lucas - has been very good today.

Lallana - Very average at best.

Sakho/Toure - both playing well.

Clyne - seems confident and playing well.

Can - seems like he's dozing like he did 2nd half against Arsenal - disappointing.

Henderson - Should have had a goal, or two.

Firmino - playing well but he MUST start shooting sooner when he's in the box.

Milner - So so, but he doesn't get any help from Clattenburg.

We've controlled the game so far - but they've been poor, and we've been average.
 
We're attacking the right weaknesses, but our guys seem to be playing with heavy legs and can't seem to get much acceleration in them to just get that final burst of speed right in the final third. Still, some of our shots should have at least been on target and tested De Gea.

We need to inject more urgency and speed into this game; it's not just the raw pace of the players, it's also about the time we take to make a pass and the sharpness of these passes. I don't necessarily think a change in personnel is needed right now - if we can get those two right then we should be able to cut them up a bit better. If not, yeah, throw Ibe on to add some speed but we need him to stop turning almost every possession into a slow-down face-up one-on-one situation so that his speed isn't wasted.
 
And Leo. Also slow. Much, much too slow. Like Kolo in a footrace against Martial I'm afraid.
 
I'm not having this 'we've been marginally better' narrative.

Utd have been dire, absolutely fucking god awful. We're doing our best to open up the game, have been in complete control and have had a few half-chances. Granted we need to do better second half, but it's been chalk and cheese regards quality and intent out there.
 
Ibe for Milner. That's where the space is and Milner isn't attacking minded enough to exploit it.

Yeah, I think we haven't taken the initiative very well though, typically we're not very assured when chances do fall to us, cf the chances that Milner, Firmino, Henderson and Lallana have had. I don't have much confidence in us when we get one on one. Like I said, I think we're banking on a bit of luck, or a Worldy, again.
 
Lucas need to stay in front of sideshow and not let him win the headers in the middle of the park.

Sakho needs to stop passing the ball to the opponents.

Other than that both are playing well.
