Well, that result sucks. I guess there's a few positives - Hendo was really good, Salah scored again, Mane seemed to really be up for it in the 1st half, Lovren & VvD were good together and Karius had a good game.

Robbo needs to practice crossing again ... and TAA actually wasn't half bad defensively.

We'll have to agree to differ. I've watched that vid numerous times now. What I see is van Dijk concentrating on the ball, then Lamela rushing in from well outside van Dijk's eyeline at the last second and throwing himself against van Dijk's leg.
Did you see Fabios post with the view of the linesman?

Look you may be right that he didnt see him it’s just, the way he hesitated before throwing himself back in that to me at least reveals that he did indeed.

You have to at least accept that the linesmans view (Fab’s post) of the incident was in the penalty-zone. And by some margin too.

Of the incident, yes. The question is whether a competent lino should have seen what created it, namely Lamela's late run into van Dijk, not the other way round.

I stand by that completely. [Even though you of all people suddenly get self-righteously fan boy, well, blimey.] Great defender in many ways but he completely lacked courage when it came to starting an attack and played to the crowd. It used to be the talk of the stands. Everyone waited for the Carragher 'point'.

There are no rose tinted glasses on me mate and I find it very strange you would use such a pathetic description. Make your mind up. Anyway I know exactly what you refer to with regards to Carra, but a ‘coward’? Fuck right off.

Mate. You need to be forced to watch this 100 times and then see if you are still of the opinion it's a 50/50 call.

Thanks Binny !

The key for me here is the contact is initiated by lamela running into him and turning his back. VVD tried to pull out to avoid injuring lamela. I find any other argument hard to digest.

Edited as I had wrong player

If you were an attacker and you feel contact in the penalty area, you would be an idiot to not fall over, unless you know you will score.

I think we can all agree on this, right?
100%.

I'd be fuming as a fan of a player didn't go down unless they were guaranteed to score

It’s a scramble, Virgil hesitates, sees Lamela and then tries to clear the ball but catches the man instead.

Anyways, the good thing about this argue is I almost forgot my frustrations with the result.. well done us.

We have all seen 17 replays and still disagree.

Imagine being a ref having to make a decision in the spur(s) of a moment.

VAR FTW

Your entitled to you opinion but have to say I can rap my head around your reasoning as are quite few others I am sure

I'm with KHL on this one, can see why the linesman gave them a pen. There was contact, VD gave the refs a reason to blow the whistle. It is what it is.
Yeah I'm of the same opinion. It's probably a pen but a fucking soft one.

True, but deliberately seeking the contact while ignoring the ball and then throwing yourself to the ground is still called cheating. This happened in both'pens'today.
