Liverpool related transfer speculation

Incidentally, apparently Newcastle want Quansah
I don’t think that’ll happen. A mixture of too many will be leaving (Trent, Jota, Nunez, Kelleher and possibly a left back) and our limit on non-home grown players means he will stay.

I doubt it as well, thought I'd just get the usual people excited for a player swap/fee combo

I'm hoping we can wrap him up in sellotape and use him in any negotiations with Newcastle. It makes sense they have shifted their attention to Quansah though!

This was the 22 men squad (inc. 7 HG) we registered:

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Kelleher*, Jaros*

Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez*, Alexander-Arnold*, Robertson, Tsimikas

Midfielders: Mac Allister, Jones*, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Endo, Morton*, Hill*

Forwards: Salah, Diaz, Jota, Nunez, Chiesa, Gakpo

=====

In Quansah, Elliott and Bradley, we will have 3 players with HG status (already/will turn 22 by the next squad registration).

I hate to do this to you Binny - but that’s the squad after the summer window and not the updated Feb squad list.

Tom Hill left for Harrogate in Jan.

When they get relegated he will down tools and go for half that.

You know he won’t and you know Southampton will hold out for a high fee - they have plenty of form for it.

He’ll be critical to their promotion push next season - which would be worth a lot.

And we all know Chelsea will happily pay stupid money for him.

2 years left on his deal though and he wont sign a new contract. Its this summer or nothing in regards to a decent fee.

Or a lesser fee and promotion back to the premier league, which might encourage him to extend.

Besides, he’s not good enough to be a regular at a top club yet - he’d be as well staying there and the clubs that he’d be best going to can’t afford him.

He could do a Trent and run down his contract to have more control over a move.

Also, would Southampton not be due some compensation for training him even if he was out of contract - won’t be much, but if Harvey’s was £4.3m at 16, then you might expect a min of £10m for an Out of Contract Dibling hitting his 20’s?

He's already been at Chelsea and he left because he was homesick. No chance they're buying him again.

What i do know is that the days of player loyalty towards clubs are dead. Southampton are a business and will definitely sell in the summer. There's no guarantee they will come back up and by now his agent has told him many clubs are looking to get him in the summer. Southampton are used to selling players. He will definitely be gone this summer and no way for anywhere near 100m. He looks talented but not THAT talented. They've been trying to get him to sign a new deal all season and he's refused. That tells you everything. He's gone.

Also - Archie Gray cost Spurs £40m+ with 1 year left on his contract and no PL experience.

Southampton are trying it on, but they know Diblings value will be well in excess of that Gray’s transfer fee at this stage and probably next season too.

I agree he’s no worth the money - but that won’t stop someone stupid enough paying for it.

Of course - but he was younger and if he’s going to be homesick at Chelsea, where else is he going to go?

Also… has Todd Boehly ever given the impression he cares whether he pays a fortune to sign someone he could of had for free or cheaper a year or two earlier?

True...it has happened before. But massively overpaying for a player that shafted them before...I mean this isn't Man U and Pogba

Don’t think he shafted them - he joined and left Chelsea as a youth player with no professional contract signed at the age of 16 - don’t think Chelsea lost out.

Hope Chelsea do sign him for a £100 mill so he can go "I want to go home" again after a few months.

Like I said, for a team like Liverpool, there’s very little value in buying players in the 18-21 age range - they’re generally not good enough to hold down a starting position in a top level team and a lack of games stunts their progress and therefore they become riskier propositions.

It’s fine if we’re a development team not expecting to challenge for 2-3 years, but not if we want to be competing for trophies and ensuring CL qualification in the interim.

Of course there is the odd player in that age group that could hold down a starting role - but I don’t think Dibling is one of them.

Given that they have 133 players in the squad, I don’t think Chelsea will notice if he signs for them and stays at Southampton. Just tell some one else in the back to shout “Present” when they have the roll call in the morning.

Fuck’s sake. We are going to have two lots of “NOT ENOUGH SIGNINGS THIS WINDOW”

Premier League clubs have today agreed the dates for the Summer 2025 Transfer Window.

The window will open early, between Sunday 1 June and Tuesday 10 June, due to an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup.

It will then reopen on Monday 16 June and close on Monday 1 September.
