LCB is all about whether Virgil is extending his contract - there’s no point buying someone as a backup now and then having to buy another LCB in the summer because Virgil’s gone.
Sure - if we happen to come across the player that could potentially replace Virgil in the next 6 months and sign him January… great. .. so he can spend 6 months not playing.. because Virgil is.
It’s doesn’t matter a lot to me if Konate gets injured again… we’ve still got one of the best defences in the league with Gomez. Remember, we last won the league when he was Virgil’s main partner.
Since you’re in to causality… why is it our best league challenges happen when it’s Virgil & Gomez as our main CB’sand why would you want to replace either of them when it’s on???
As far as LB goes - ask yourself this - are we currently a failing team in need of drastic replacements at LB to save our season?
Or do you think, you know, arguably the best LB we’ve ever had might be given a little bit of leeway for 6 months to see if he can rediscover some form before binning him off?

We know the club is limited in funds, we can both agree the attack can remain as it is until the summer. We agree a signing in Jan would be nice, I want that to be CB and or LB you want it to be a CDM. Hopefully @Modo does another post and it would be good to see how many want another LB
We do and i don't get it unless he intends to turn pedro into a number 9. He doesn't use a false 9 like klopp did. He prefers a proper striker to lead the line so i don't see how cunha or pedro would fit into the team unless they played in the szoboslai role which i can't imagine either as that would require a lot more running and defensive work.

Yeah, our main one isn't playing at the same level he used to, but I believe that in those three there's enough quality for a successful season.

I have to say that @StevieM - is correct we are covered in every position BUT the midfield coverage is good - but we don't have the like for like replacement for Gravy - so for that reason we need someone in midfield that can play the 6 that Slot likes, without selling Endo the destroyer

Not a chance in hell. We have 5 forwards and even if one is out of favour he's still a £70m player and we're not going to send him to the reserves and then send him off to Italy for a £2m loan fee with us paying his salary. He'll go in the Summer and we'll replace him then.
We might end up doing that anyway. I can’t see which team would give us tens of millions for him.
If the plan is for him to go, then there's no reason why we wouldn't be "opportunistic" in the market as we usually are in Jan.

False 9 yes - he is taylor-made for that role. Only issue with him is injuries.

Chiesa would be the cheap failed gamble off on loan or the reserves in that scenario.
