Avy & Aka - how much do you think we have ?

According to my reckoning (and of course no-one knows how much G&H are giving us) we have plenty, plenty plenty.

Keane : 15M
Alonso : 30M
Arbeloa : 4M
Original Transfer Kitty : 20M
Others to depart : 2M to 10M

Spent
Aquilani : 16M

Balance anywhere from ca. 40M to 60M !! We should have more than enough for Silva / Turner & a striker should Rafa & Co. decide we need to buy all three. I seriously doubt spending 8/9M on Turner would impact our ability to buy a winger & back-up striker.

Rafa has already stated he used a lot of his budget up in renewing and improving players contracts, thats were a lot of the budget has gone.

If he is serious about signing Turner maybe Aggers back problem is a lot worse than first thought.

Why is everyone insisting we MUST buy attacking talent?
In an ideal world we would of course be after a top tier wideman, but the market IS a mess and starting with what we have wouldnt be the end of the world by any means.
It seems people (as i suppose is in our nature) would prefer to grumble and groan about our side than get on and support the lads we have. Which is fine, but id really rather people didnt just make shit up to fit their arguments.
We dont 'desperately need' anything at all in attack. We have the premierships most potent attack already. Even with our two star players injured we outscored everyone. Knocked 4 past Madrid, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, Blackburn etc and looked like scoring at will. Add to that the second year experience of Dossena and Riera. The (hopefull) improvement of El zhar, n'gog and Babel. The overall reliability of Kuyt and yossi. And thats without 'hoping' the big 2 stay fit.
We've got plenty if needs be.

Ha ha. I love the superoptimistic preseason Oncy. If we're fourth by Xmas, I still expect you to be calling for Rafa's head.
Only if Rafa's decisions cost us points as they have in the past. I thought our squad was good enough to win the league last season and i still do. If Rafa sabotages that i will be on him of course. But i dont see it happening.
Rafa + this squad + consistency = titles.

I pretty much agree with all oncy said. I said we'd challenge without adding a single new signing however I didn't figure on losing xabi. the most important thing is no matter what happens in the first 0 games we mustn't panic the season is a long hard battle and as we've shown time and time again we get better as the season goes on.

Why spend 12mill on a defender that isn't going to play if Carra/Agger/Skrtel are fit? Must be bollocks. Don't make sense.

Don't worry, spidey, nothing's going to happen in the first 0 games.

I watched Ayala & San Jose played the second half of the AM game decent enough. With one of Carra/Agger/Skrytel not injured, I think Ayala can stand in.
Ayala shouldn't be anywhere near the first team for at least 12 months.
If we don't give our young reserves chances, we will continue to buy expensive replacements.

We wish!

I'd rather go for Wheater from 'boro, might be able to get him on the cheap with them being in the championship now.

Hull boss Phil Brown lines up Sol Campbell in case Liverpool swoop for Michael Turner

Hull manager Phil Brown has opened talks with Sol Campbell. Brown has lined up a deal for the 34-year-old former England defender, who is a free agent, in case Liverpool improve their offer for £12m rated Michael Turner.

Brown said: ‘I’ve had a good conversation with Sol. If someone is willing to meet our valuation of Michael, I will need a centre half.’

£12m rated by whom?

I know sterling has struggled, but unless it goes the way of the Zimbabwean dollar, Turner will be a Hull City player in September.

We al know 12 actually means 8 or 9 in manager speak.
