I would be utterly utterly amazed if riera starts there next week, I think you have more chance of seeing rafa there and judging by riera's peformances this season rafa would probably do a better job.

Well, if were up to me , I would play Riera, regardless of what has gone on.
If it's a matter of progressing, make use of him

Yeah me too.

Our left flank has been a car crash all season, pretty much. The lack of depth and quality there is just astounding for a major European club with a manager in his fifth season. It's like building a house and forgetting an entire wall.

I'm sure Agger would be OK at LB, but I don't fancy a CB pairing of Zorba and Carra against Benfica's quick attackers - nor even against Birmingham's. With Kelly and Aurelio injured, I don't know who we should play there - maybe Carra? - but we definitely need Agger in the centre to provide some pace.

Otherwise, we could try a 352, I suppose:

Reina

Carra - Zorba - Agger

Magic - Mascher - Gerrard - Riera (needs must)

Yossi/Maxi

Torres - Kuyt

simple answer..

he will play Johnson at left back & Benayoun on the left in the return leg..

Carra or Masherano (if aqua is fit to play) will play on the right...

problem solved..

whats the worry? we will beat them at anfield. The Players will be fired up for this one after last nights shambolic display from the officials.
