Tonight at 11pm on LFCTV, then no doubt repeated the usual number of times. It'll just be intriguing to listen to him respond if he's asked why people assume he doesn't have much time for the club these days. Mind you, this morning he wrote this, so maybe he's finally changing...

"Liverpool may have lost yesterday but Arsene Wenger will know they were by far the better side.

"Brendan Rodgers’ men were denied a stonewall penalty by referee Howard Webb, but I don’t think Brendan will lose that much sleep over it.

"He will have seen from that performance that Liverpool are the most exciting team to watch in the country right now.

"Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling are just sensational. They look as though they can score at any moment.

"Is there a better attack to watch in the Premier League at the minute? Not for me.

It was actually quite interesting. Very insightful about what a massive influence Souness was on every aspect of the club. Listening to him say, for example, how, after Paisley retired, Souness called a team meeting and told everyone how they'd have to make it work for Fagan made me think of the mancs now - there's no real captain or leader of that squad and I'm sure that's one reason it's starting to disintegrate now.

I wonder though if there are many of those sort of players left in the game these days .

I can all but guarantee if we needed something similar that Stevie, Henderson or both would step up.

As for lawrenson, I've always thought he judged Liverpool against the side be played in, & can't get over that, rather than any genuine bitterness tainting his views.

And Suarez, his influence over the other players shouldn't be underestimated.

Personally I think whilst the younger players look up to the immense ability of Suarez, I get the impression that the influence that Gerrard has over the team/club is huge, I can't imagine anyone back talks him ever.

The sight of SG geeing up Tex at Fulham (in a mildly Brendan Rodgers style) was immense.

Yep, Suarez is blatently a leader aswell though, im sure if he spoke up in the dressing room he would command big respect.

Thats the thing, there do seem to be leaders and voices in our dressing room right now, that can only be a good thing (unless you are the England cricket team, doh!)

Sakho is a leader although its early for him here, Toure is a leader and as mentioned Hendo looks the type and is growing all the time.

Maccas point is spot on, just take one look at what happened to Arsenal when the likes of Campbell, Vieira, Keown, Adams, etc fucked off, they didn't have anyone and they floundered, hopefully that happens to the mancs for the years to come.

I don't know how often Lawrenson fetches up at Anfield now, but I do know that a few years ago he turned up for a game and was booed and abused by those around him on the day, so it's not just some of us (me included) who've noticed the slanted nature of his comments on LFC over the years.

As for a reason for those comments, I've always put them down to his trying too hard to be unbiased rather than to any actual bitterness about the club. That's no excuse IMO (Jocky's always been there to show him how it should be done) but it might be an explanation.

I'm afraid when I see him I get a mental image of that Disney film "Dumbo", especially the crows singing "When Ah See'd A Elephant Fly". 😀

Good little player though. Hope you turn out to be right about him.

Why does Lawro never seem to get any stick for sounding really camp?

As for bias, it's never bothered me. Tbh I haven't noticed any for years anyway. I don't know why people get so wound up by it - personally I used to find Phil Thompson on Sky much more annoying because he was presented as a kind of representative of LFC and he was incapable of making any kind of defence of us against the intellects of Le Tissier, Stelling, Nicholas and co.

Lawro has made some rather strange remarks about Hillsborough hasn't he?

There was something about Rafa and didn't he make a strange remark on TV? might of been the same thing, not sure but that will surely have something to do with fans disliking him, that and rarely having a positive word to say about us.

The interview underlined the fact that he's just a die-hard Preston fan - he was born there, his dad played for them, his step dad was a director there, and he played for them. That's his club. I think he has plenty of affection for LFC but it's just not his club. He said the mancs offered him much more than we did but he told them they weren't as a big a club at the time in terms of competing for trophies and signed for us. He sounded very businesslike about Ireland, too - basically saying he didn't think he'd get picked for England so he played for Ireland and enjoyed the big matches. No great emotional affiliation though.

Ah, the Michael Owen approach to football.

"I'm a businessman & football is my business" is along the lines of what he said I believe.
