I love Kuyt, but if he was going to leave 15 mil would be a fantastic amount.
Only if we get to spend it.
Hence the stuff you omitted from my quote dude.

Rafa did always like paying over the odds for mediocrity

*awaits whipping*

Sell sell sell.
We'd be crazy to turn down £15mil for a 30year old.
Much though it pains me to agree £15M is a stupid fee for Kuyt and one that will buy a comparable but younger player with change.

I will however cry like a girl

There is some logic to that, but we'd still have to replace him. Kuyt and Yossi were our mainstays on the right for the last two seasons. If they're both gone, who do we play there? Maxi? Babel? Pacheco? We don't actually know that ANY of those players can do the business all season long.

Whoever replaces Dirk, if he does leave, will have to be able to play RW and as a striker.

And who does that better than Dirk for less than £15M

I'm struggling to think of anyone.

Aquero, Tevez, Villa

and of course

Valencia and Robben's last transfer were both in the vicintiy of £15mil. There are players out there alright, it's a case of swooping in swiftly and doing a deal quickly. Real, Barca, Inter all have pretty big squads full of talented players not all can play every week.

I have this horrible feeling that we're going to be selling a few players in the next week, with a majourity of that money going to pay down our debt to such a level that G&H can actually get someone to provide them with a loan to cover the remainder.

Kuyt for 15m & reports surfacing of Barca in for Mascherano again, not to mention babel to Wolfsburg. With Acqua going out on loan probably an effort to reduce the wage bill it is possible that we are gearing up to make the operation more "attractive" to refinancing.

Of course it's all doomsday scenario & ifs.... but if anything starts to surface over the next few days linking Torres to Man City (because we will sell if we get the right offer and Man City'll not give a toss about whether he can play in the Europa League and would fling enough money at him to make him consider a move), then anything is possible.

Fucking he'll stevie. Torres is going nowhere this summer.

Mascher may well still go, but we knew this & it has nothing to do with the ownership issue.

Also, refinancing can't happen dependent on player sales cos it's destroying a business model you'd be using to argue for the loan. It's nonsensical & banks wouldn't agree it on that basis.

If you were a bank out to make as much dosh as possible and were aware of their shennanigins over the last few years, would you give them the money even if they do put up some cash?

And neither will RBS/Wachovia/Whoever.

Selling players to reduve debt is not good business practice and not conducive to sound financial management. Selling off our top assets simply reduces the value of the club and makes it less attractive to investors.

I'm inclined to grab £15M for Kuyt but the turnover rate of new players would make it a very challenging season. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Kuyt: 'I was informed of Inter bid'
Sunday 22 August, 2010
Dirk Kuyt has told a Dutch newspaper that he was “officially informed” by Liverpool of a bid from Inter.

“On Thursday night, during the Europa League game against Trabzonspor, the board of Liverpool informed me officially that they have received a fax from Inter.

“You can call this a luxury situation for me now.”

It was well known that the Nerazzurri were lining up a proposal for Rafa Benitez’s protégé, who has been at Anfield since 2006.

Inter President Massimo Moratti was asked about the offer during last night’s Italian Super Cup win against Roma.

“Does Wesley Sneijder want Kuyt to join him at Inter? Wesley must wait and so much Kuyt,” said the patron.

He was also told of Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson’s claim that he had personally spoken to Moratti, receiving an assurance Inter would not sign any of his players.

“Everyone can say what they want.”

The British media suggest the price-tag is £15m, but the Italian newspapers insist the Nerazzurri are offering just £7m cash plus a player.

It is likely to be either Sulley Ali Muntari or striker Victor Obinna.

Now I don't want Dirk to go and, unless he actually wants to be reunited with Rafa, I don't think he will, but if Inter think that £7m plus Sulley Muntari is enough then they can stick their offer where the S** don't shine.

we should ask for:
Eto'o and 15 million

Cheeky :-X

"It is likely to be either Sulley Ali Muntari or striker Victor Obinna."

No thanks - neither would be useful.

Inter are quite desperate to get rid of Muntari and there are no takers.

Didn't Roy just confirm a few days ago that Mascherano and Kuyt are going nowhere?

Not a fucking chance. How is it teams think we'll take on their cast-off shite as a down payment for our decent players. Fuck. Off.

.... because banks are well know for refusing to lend dodgy characters money... with morals and common decencey getting in the way of the possibility of making a profit.

Decency and morals?

From a bank?

The only reason why they may not lend any more money is because they think they cant get it back.

And there are plenty of reasons why they may not get it back.

In the current financial climate, and the fact that the club is losing money everyday, you could understand easily why they wouldn't, regardless of how much we're able to pay off, and from sales it'd only a small percentage anyway.

I know it's "a bit" out there... but different buiseness model.... reduce your outgoings (wages), sell off assets for capital... make minor investment in what's left and hope to keep it ticking over until things are more favourable.

Here's the gambit... is it worth spending extra to get in to the CL... or consolidating what you have.. and by consolidating I mean... top half of the League... which can be done without Masher, Kuyt & Torres.

We're not getting a new buyer by the endo f the transfer window (EPL Board needs 10 days I think)... we're looking at 3rd tier players (if that???... players I'd expect to be linked to the SPL).
Trust me... this all makes sense after a skull-full of beer...
