So instead of the usual plodding, we've actually been working to secure before we sold. Good news, even if Konchesky doesn't really set the world on fire. No idea about the other chap but others seem to think he's good so I'll jump that bandwagon.

I don't mind about Konchesky, it might be an unfashionable signing, but given our current predicament, I'd rather know what we were getting. Hopefully that's just a seasoned left back who will come in and play the role well enough, even if he isn't anything spectacular, aslong as he's solid and helps the defence keep it's shape better than it has been over the last 12 months, it's job done, even if only temporarily for a season or two.

I'm not overly distressed about him signing. I just hope this midfield lad finally gives us a bit of class back in the middle of the park.

I'd rather we went and bought a quality LB, but he's at least Premiership experienced.

I'm more annoyed at the fact we're paying cash and sending youngsters there.

As for Meireles, havent a clue...but some on here who have seen him play are optimistic..so I'll jump on thge bandwagon too 8)

He's a better defender than Aurelio, and as we have an attacking Right back I'd give him the nod over Aurelio, with the latter a better option against weaker opposition at home.

Hmm, I'm of the (correct) opinion that The Konch is an 'OK' defender, and that isn't too bad given the dearth of true quality we have.

He will be far better than Insewer and Dross, and I think he may also keep Aurelio out, because while Aurelio may be easier on the eye and a dcent passer, he still isn't a very good defender

So, perhaps not great. But we have certainly done worse. It's hard to get really excited or upset about a player like Konchesky

(And I have a feeling I probably advocated signing him a few years ago)

I think Konchesky will do a solid enough job for us.

[/quote]We havnt overpaid mate. A good quality solid Left back with European experience for a deal worth 3.5m with a couple of shit youths. We've probably paid about a milli in cash. We played 17m for Johnson and that cunt cant defend. This is not an exciting deal, but its a good one IMHOOC.
