I'm just confused by Arn's post above. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I thought he had previously blamed Rodgers for the signings this summer as they were 'his' players but he states above that he thinks the TC signed the players.

I think that all the players this summer was signed by the TC. Of course Rodgers or the club will never admit it. I doubt that they had planned to sign Firmino this summer but they had to do it to stop him moving to another club. I think he was planned to replace Coutinho when he moves Barcelona next summer if he do that.

The new backroom staff was probably a short time solution after Klopp/Ancelotti said no. They had to get someone in after deciding not give Pascoe and Marsh new deals.
