I'm not sure if you've watched them much over the last few months - but they've rarely looked 'good' ... Fabregas has been shite, Costa has barely scored the 2nd half and bar Hazard, they little creative outlet (Oscar can't even last 60 minutes now as Jose 'closes' games after 60 minutes).
Let's not go overboard here.
They never look good, it's why I said "assured". They know how to win. They do just enough to get a result. They rarely get out of 2nd gear because they don't have to.
I've watched enough of them to know that they're a boring, unadventurous side. But they can win. We can't
There's a hell of a difference between a talented team winning without breaking a sweat, and a mess of a team straining to win and only just managing it.

Yep.. They have a defence of steel and set up not to lose as well as a will to win.

At the moment Chelsea are going through a tricky spell without their 1st choice strikers.. But still grinding out results..

We haven't.. it worked for a while but it never really was a long term option.. It always felt like a temporary solution..
I highly doubt we will be playing it next season...
Because we don't have the players, one injury to key a player and the system was doomed.. the players look like they have stopped playing for the Manager..
When you become reliant on Lucas.. a player that was previously surplus to requirements.. to shore things up.. It can only be a step backwards in the long term..

We don't have the players to win the league, regardless of the formation.
That I do not know.. when all players fit it worked to a degree..
But some of the players he signed struggled to adapt
Markovic.. being one.. Johnson never played
Moreno.. clueless at times.. Signing like Manquillio, Lamert & Balotelli constantly left on the bench.
Players hung out to dry.. then relied upon when it mattered.. Bizzarre..
When injuries became apparent, players where then played out of position.. Square Pegs Round holes approach

Gerrard has struggled with the formation too.. he causes us too play to static when he plays.. our game slows right down..
Rodgers became set on the 3-4-3 formation rather than changing a formation when injury struck to suit the players..
Probably because a realisation sunk in.. that the players we signed where indeed... not all that great... 3 4 3 was designed to get the best out of what he had..
The whole system papers over what was a terrible transfer windows for us.. Rodger Ego is part of the problem

Limping through a competition isn't so unusual for us, but we usually pick it up at this stage. And we had a side packed with internationals, many of whom have played at Wembley and other big stadia in big games, so Rodgers can't just say the players looked overwhelmed by the occasion - why the hell were they?
Because the system he played was found out from the word go... as usual when we play Gerrard.. we became overun in midfield..
We just looked clueless.. Gerrard is playing like his head is already in the USA..
Cannot be a good example to set for the rest of the players..

Yes, he played three at the back to get the best out of the players we have. That is usually known as a good thing.
I actually don't think it papers over anything. It was a poor window what ever system we play. I said it at the time, is was a disaster of a window last summer. We had lots of money, we just didn't buy the right players.
But, I appreciate the fact that Rodgers did try and change things when things weren't going right, and it did have a positive effect for at least a period of time.
We had many problems this season, one of which has been a problem since Rodgers arrived, and that's that we doesn't seem to have any ideas for building a great defence. I haven't seen any evidence of improvement even when looking at the long term.
The other issue this year is the lack of goals. We signed Balotelli, Lambert and recalled Borini. So we go three strikers in, and got as many goals and assists from them as we did from Sturridge who was injured for most of it, and has looked poor when he's played. That's a seriously bad poor return. I'd prefer if we had better players thatn those three, but there's enough talent between them to at least have 20 goals in total, no matter what formation we play. They either weren't been played right, they weren't motivated well enough, or something else is wrong. Worse players have scored a lot more than all of them.
This is what I don't understand.. rather than trying to get something out these players.. it just became apparant Rodgers didn't fancy them so didn't play them

But Lambert and Balotelli are far better players than this season has led you to beleive..
It didn't help that BR told every cunt exactly what his tactics were every time we won a game. The fucking plum.
But apart from Juve, Bayern Munich and of course Barcelona has anybody ever had any success with 3 at the back?

Huge differance with those teams compard to ours.. If you have the attack and armourey, your best form of defense is attack...
Barcelona have always looked vulnerable at the back.. but there firepower puts any vulnerabilities at the back to bed..
That being said.. nobody has won anything in this league with 3 at the back as there tried and trusted formation... I don't think they ever will..
We just need players of the same elk as Barcelona then.
Only if Frank deer Boer is manager.
