I don't know, I'm just depressed at the prospect of spending 12mil and 60k a week (probably) on a player who ain't no great shakes. Players like this used to cost 350k from Hereford Utd but I guess that's modern footy for you.
I'll be interested to see who Sunderland bring in with the 12mil, considering they got Bent for 10mil last summer.
I've no doubt 'Ken' will bang a couple in but he doesn't seem like a long-term solution that will still be here in 3 or 4 years. Therefore the outlay to get him seems excessive to me.

2.5M for San Jose? A little disappointing.

I wonder how much he cost us.
270,000

A very tidy profit for the kid.
A good profit but still a bit disappointing considering that the kid looks like he will have a career in the La Liga. I was hoping we could get at least 5 million for him.

I thought San Jose would make it here.

12m for Jones, though, that's alot. Unless it's the final figure after clauses. I wouldnt mind paying that if he helps us win the league (eventually)!

Long balls again...

whats the point of having players like Gerrard and Aquilani in midfield if the defence are just going to bypass them anyway..

I would much prefer players in the Aimar, Cassano mould. Players who can create space and attack quickly on the break and their version of holding up play is to win freekicks..

Crouch was almost always isolated due to his poor mobility and inconsistant first touch.. i dont want to see unimaginative one route hoof ball again..

all that being said........ nothing could be worse than the shite we have played at times during this year.

Drogba
Adebayor
Crouch
Bendtner

All top teams have a big strong centre forward that can be used as an 'out' ball. Call it long-ball football, call it whatever you like really, but it's a massive part of modern day football.

Berbatov doesn't quite fit that bill.
he fits the bill of holding the ball up to allow others to join the play, something that other strikers in that list achieve with power rather than skill.

And Peter Crouch's first touch is not inconsistant.
Yes it is. Trouble is, whether it's great or not, often his second or third touch was in our half, to our right back.

Bruce blasts disrespectful Liverpool

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has launched an angry broadside at Liverpool over their pursuit of Kenwyne Jones.

Bruce insisted there has been no contact between the two clubs despite repeated speculation on Merseyside that the Trinidad and Tobago international is to join the Reds on loan before making a permanent switch during the summer.

He said: "I find it hugely disrespectful, the antics of Liverpool. I have huge respect for Liverpool and the way they have done their business and they way they have conducted themselves.

"But I have to say, this constant badgering of Kenwyne Jones when we as a club haven't heard anything, and then I keep reading this nonsense that I'm going to allow him to go on loan because it's a tax advantage for both clubs is the biggest load of rubbish I have read for weeks.

"As if I'm got to let our big, big player, one of our big, big assets, go on loan - I find it hugely disrespectful and I can't understand where Liverpool are coming from."

Maybe we should just ask Steve Bruce if he'd let us take Jones on loan for a while. Just until the end of the season...

*expects minor earthquake in the north-east*

It's the papers that are saying that, fathead.

It amazes me how managers who should know the British press like the back of their hand, actually lend any credence to newspaper reports, to the extent that they're willing to launch misguided attacks through the very same people who made the shit up in the first place.

It isn't made up, Bneitez is after Kenwyne Jones
We best sack him before we waste more money then

What is depressing is that we are running out of time to sign any striker. Jones may not be everyones cup of tea, but if he were to come, he would hit the ground running.

Are there any real alternatives that have been spoken about?

You can guarantee some that won't

one thing is clear from the steve bruce interview i just watched; we have successfully unsettled ken jones.

Haha...

*I've actually always had a soft spot for Big Emile.. he never really was that good mind. Apart from one Season.

We're really shit at all this transfer business aren't we?

It's a mini Barry scenario, again. "Hey Kenwyne, fancy coming to us providing we can shift Ryan"

By that logic Babel's going to be amazing next season and we should hold onto him.
Indeed so Bren.
You can increase your odds that they will, by buying a relatively proven premiership player.
I can guaranteed that Jones would take less acclimatisation than someone like Chamakah
