Do you really believe that Roy would give up a perfectly good job at Fulham, to come here and not have a say in how his team will be shaped? Do you really think he would have bothered?

You can be sure of that they have, Macia, Roy and CP drawn up a transfer list, with players that can leave and who we want to bring in.

CP handles the negotiations and Roy manages the team on the training ground. With Roy redirecting the questions to CP, then that nothing new as many other manager have done the same thing. If Roy didn't have such limited time regarding the team and vital games I'm guessing he would have been even more involved.

I for one like the answers Roy are giving. Their better then the standard we are working hard phrase we used to hear.

It's not normal for the fans to get an inside track on transfer negotiations at any club.

I'm interested to know what your attitude will be to our matches this season. Will you be wanting us to lose every one so that you can be proved right?

Macia definitely now has a bigger say than he did before as Hodgson does not have the same control as Benitez.

That's not spin and the other managers do have these kinds of power. In the case of Moyes, Fergie etc. they control pretty much everything down to the under 18's but they delegate under their authority

No, of course not. I hope for the best like everyone but shouldn't we be concerned about the way the club is being run when the so called manager shrugs his shoulders and says ask Purslow, when he knows we or the press can't or by the time we do the transfer window - so crucial to our success - is slammed shut

I guess we just have to wait and see but if us fans have these concerns then the players will too and that's what worries me as well.

The left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing and with2 weeks to go to our first competitive match it doesn't bode well. Ultimately Hodgson will carry the can if Purslow fucks up, or rather puts the squeeze on in terms of finances

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions about what is going on at the club. However, I think that as supporters, our main duty is to support. Laying into the new manager before a ball has been kicked, on the basis of a negative take on what he has said in a press conference, doesn't seem the best way of supporting the club.

I bet they are having a good laugh about this forum in Redcafé!

i'm not laying into Hodgson, just saying what we see on the pitch will be more down to Purslow and Macia than it will him. Some people think this is fine others don't because when it goes pear shaped the manager will carry the can and the anonymous figures will have done their damage. We also don't have the finances for our Managing director to play fantasy football as he turns Liverpool into a poor mans Real Madrid

John Smith, Peter Robinson, David Moores and Rick Parry had no football qualifications but until P arry became pantomime villain a few years ago no-one seemed to have a problem with that traditional hierarchical structure.

Loads of our fans love to demonise anything they don't understand. There's plenty wrong with the ownership of the club but nothing up with the current structure of the board and reporting lines.

Hodgson Joined us 1st July 2010, that's 18 days ago Rebel. If he had not been given a major guiding hand by the board in that initial transitional period I would be wanting to know why.
Get off your soap box for fucks sake, we have not even kicked a ball, or signed a player yet, under his or anyone else's stewardship, your are becoming very tedious over this along with one or two others.
If it is the case the directors are keeping a tighter rein on things, you could hardly blame them after witnessing the debacle that happened when they did give too much empowerment to the manager

It does seem that after such a short period of time that people are quick to jump to conclusions over this area.

All we've seen so far is a couple of players leave (one who was not good enough, and another who clearly wanted to go). Personally i don't think thats much to go on at this moment in time.

Anyways, as for Cole taking his time before he commits to a club... and? He doesn't give a shit about LFC and does have 'one big contract' left in him, and just wants Jerry Maguire to show him the money...hate to break it to you but none of them care about the club, not as much as you and me. They're just chess pieces. His emotional response to the club shouldn't affect yours toward him.

exactly. a lot of black slapping going on right now, as if gerrard and torres are guaranteed to stay and transfer funds are guaranteed to be reinvested in the squad. its all well and good bringing up the likes of robinson and past liverpool chairmen, robinson and past chairmen all had the best interests of club, that being the case of the current men in charge is somewhat...dubious. there seems to be two sides forming on the forum, come august we'll see which side was more accurate with their speculation.

Can you imagine Dalglish, Shankly, Paisley, or Fagan (or even Houllier or Benitez) making some of the comments that Woy has spouted in the past week?

He couldn't be doing more to portray himself exactly as he is: an old, safe, yes man who has no power, no full knowledge of what is happening, and fully in the thrall of Cecil
