Where's Ross??????

I thought using the words "net spend" was a bit like flicking on the bat signal for him.

...... Right..... Made me do it....

Bentiez

Robbie Keane

Strict lability....

And all in the wrong fucking thread.
I occasionally browse Boards.ie.
Man they are really strict when it comes to moderation.
It's like Stalag fucking seventeen.
Bet you wish you were a mod there instead of with this unruly mob

Didn't they buy the club on the cheap as well?

Oh and Oncy, don't worry, we won the Senior Lancashire Cup last year 😉
Yes even worse. Bought us for a song and invested very little so far in the way of player signings. For all we know that spend of 29m came out of cash-flow. FSG starting to look like "forget signing goodplayers" if our problems remain unresolved

WTF is that Themn?

Looks a bit like a CGI version of the twin towers falling, merged with a futuristic cityscape as envisaged by someone with no primary colours at hand.

Or something.

NextGen Series: Liverpool 0 - 3 Sporting Lisbon

Juniores: Sporting 5-1 Liverpool

Liverpool have taken advantage of Sporting's financial plight to snap up one of their brightest young playmakers for a bargain £1m. Joao Carlos has been playing for Sporting's youth sides since the age of 13, winning the national championship at U14 level. At U16 and U17 level he scored 19 goals for the club, gaining international recognition with Portugal at U16, U7 and U19 level, including a substitute appearance against England in October 2011, in which he played against his new Reds team-mates Conor Coady, Jack Robinson and Adam Morgan. Two months earlier, Carlos had impressed Liverpool officials in a crushing 3-0 win for Sporting over the Reds in the NextGen Series, a Champions League equivalent for European youth football. Sporting and Carlos repeated the performance in November 2011, thrashing Liverpool's U19s 5-1 in Lisbon.

1) He celebrated his 19th birthday on 18 January 2012, the same day Liverpool agreed a deal to sign him from Sporting Lisbon.

2) Utilised by Sporting's youth team in a creative midfield role, Joao Carlos operates in a similar fashion to David Silva at Man City and has already drawn comparisons to gifted Portuguese international and former Barcelona star Deco.

3) The latest product to emerge from the famous youth academy at Sporting which has also produced Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Nani, Joao Carlos scored an impressive team goal against Liverpool in the NextGen Series.

4) Sporting were keen to hang on to their prized asset for longer, like they did with Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo before cashing in for a significant sum, but their dire financial plight has forced them to cave in and accept Liverpool's £1m offer.

5) As a result of his progress at youth level, Carlos had been promoted to train with the senior team at Sporting recently, but had yet to make his full debut for the club's senior side.

"Liverpool were impressed by my performances during training and the match that I played. The technical team like my style of play, so hopefully they will sign me." Speaking in January 2012

I'd want this guy to come in and have a similar sort of role to Shelvey, in terms of appearances etc, I really hope he can force his way into the first team soon, because as soon as David Silva was mentioned, I got too excited. Plus if this guy spends more than 3 months in the reserves he won't make it.

Sporting are famous for developing wingers. We're in desperate need of wingers.

Example:

Luís Figo
Nani
Cristiano Ronaldo
Ricardo Quaresma
Simão Sabrosa

And we buy a CM/AM from them. 😉

But he's brilliant like I said before.

And to top the night off, been told by a Sporting Official that the Joao Teixeira deal is done, further, he prefers the name Joao Carlos

Whilst we're raping the Lisbon academy, I'd like the number 9 and 10 too.

we're raping them like they raped us in the next gen

Is it not a little curious that at the age of 19 he's not made it into the first team yet?

Sporting tend to blood their talented youngsters pretty early, do they not?

Yup and they've also got close ties to Man U.
Someone would've surely tipped them off if he was so highly rated.

He'll disappear without a trace.

I think we're driving him from the airport straight to melwood

Finally confirmed

Joao Carlos Teixeira will join Liverpool's Academy after the formalities of his transfer from Sporting Lisbon were completed.

The 19-year-old Portuguese youth international played and scored against the Reds earlier this season at Anfield in the NexGen series.

Hmm he's 19, i'd like to think he'll go straight into the reserves etc and not be too far off the first team . I mean 19 is young now in some senses, players like Kelly and Spearing were older than that before they got in but then if you're shit hot you're normally in the 1st team by 19 . Look at owen, gerrard etc and that Oxo-Chambermaid at arsenal , he's only 17 and starting big games ahead of fit first team players .

So we'll see , sadly i am siding towards him being shite but i obviously hope i am wrong .

Rafa introduced Jay Spearing in a CL game v Real Madrid, the Reds won 4-0 and Jay was 19 years old.

Martin Kelly also played his first senior game for Liverpool in the CL v PSV he was 18 years old.

LIVERPOOL’S exciting new talent Joao Carlos Teixeira has made his first appearance for the club – on a badminton court in Kensington.

The 19-year-old Portuguese youth international was snapped up by the Reds from Sporting Lisbon last month for around £850,000.

There are high hopes for Teixeira at the Kirkby Academy where he has started off working with Rodolfo Borrell’s reserves squad.

The midfield playmaker’s debut for the second string has been delayed due to a minor muscle injury
but he lent his support this week to the Premier League 4 Sport event at Kensington Sports Centre.

The scheme aims to introduce four different Olympic sports – volleyball, table tennis, badminton and netball – to youngsters in the region. Teixeira attended along with fellow Reds youngsters Brad Smith and Suso.

Gemma Smith, LFC Foundation Premier League 4 Sport coordinator, said: “With the Olympics happening this year we are trying to encourage more youngsters to take up sport. Each week roughly we organise 23 sessions across Liverpool and Wirral.”
