January Transfer Window Thread

I agree with Hansern, maybe it's a different understanding of the term 'statement of intent', a silly statement of intent signing: I agree, I don't see them doing it and nor do I want them too, that's like City's Robinho or B'burn's Ronaldinho, they weren't good footballing signings, they were for headlines. Suarez wouldn't be that, he's a good player, that is exactly what we need.

I've really wanted us to sign him since the WC, and am trying really hard to not get my hopes up too much about it happening now, but I'm so excited at the prospect of signing him.

We won't be signing Suarez, Alexis Sanchez or Ashley Young. Nevermind all of them.

However, I will gladly eat humble pie if even just one of them comes off.

I think we need to try and do something in this window , not only to try and save some credibility for where we finish, but to show any prospective manager that we are ambitious, there is money and to make the squad look more attractive.
Only however if the player is who and what we want.

regards

Seems most likely that any deals will get little coverage (bar broad speculation) until done under our new owners.

Something, yes, but I don't expect that much in the way of transfer activity from us this time. With a little bit of luck the summer may be a different story.

I largely agree with that Vlad.
However I wonder if an incoming manager, assuming that we have a different manager in six months time, would prefer a larger transfer budget than a few additions to the current squad. Working with a blank canvas and all that jazz.

If Dalglish is aiming to improve Torres' form - rumour that the reds have won £18M race for Luis Suarez may help Nando regain focus. # From the editor of Anfield Online.

Now, I know it's all silly rumours. But what a fucking ace signing he would be.

We where seriously looking at Suarez whether thats changed I don't know, but would have him here in a flash.

Is that from your regular source?

*fingers crossed*

Luis Suarez is class. This cant be true.
Its too good to be true. Im too used to being hurt.
Negredo i can believe. Sadly.

Rumour about SWP signing for 3 mill. Probably bollocks as every other rumour these days.

I would say its a goodbye to Arshavin.
Good call Paddy ... Yah, he's gone ... and they've replaced a solid player with a potential world class player ... Great

Maybe we still have a shot:

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Eden Hazard and looks set to make a move for the Lille star.

The Belgian winger is one of the most highly-rated players in France and seen as one of the most promising prospects in world football today.

The 20-year-old has already made over 100 appearances for his club and been part of the first-team for over three years, and appears ready for a new challenge after being voted the French Ligue 1 player and young player of the year.

Hazard has already stated his admiration in recent times for Arsenal and Wenger's ability to bring on young players, but also was attracted by a move to Liverpool.
Arshavin gone? What?
Ive heard the arsenal fans hate him but he's still there i think?
What do they hate him for , besides his face?
Because he is appara lazy as fuck and performs one game in 10.

I'm really trying not to get excited about the whole Suarez thing, but my brains not listening.

Kenny's back, the manager is the main man at our club again, we're on the brink of signing a star, our players are fighting for us, on the pitch and on twitter! All is right with the world

Negredo is decent, but not worth 17mil.

As for SWP, for 3mil i wouldnt mind, atleast we would have a winger with pace

17 million? NO FUCKING WAY. That is a joke. We can get far better players for that fee ...

Andy - if they sign Hazard, someone has to leave. So Paddy mentioned Arshavin, and I agreed with him.

17 million could probably land us several better alternatives than Negredo.

Adebayor
Suarez
Pazzini
Hulk
Defoe
Don't think we'd get hulk for that fee. I remember in the summer when chelsea were linked to him the talk was closer to the 30mil mark. in £ too. Which is excessive...

and defoe would be a non-starter as 'arry would never sell him to us.

Can't fault the rest of the list
