Suarez prefers Liverpool over Spurs

Ajax and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez is set to snub Tottenham Hotspur to join Liverpool.

The 23-year-old, who starred for Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup and best remembered for his 'hand of god' incident during the quarter-final against Ghana, has been linked with a move out of Ajax.

And Liverpool have been among the favourites to land the striker as new manager Kenny Dalglish seeks to turn the fortunes around at Anfield.

Fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are also in the queue over his signature.

But according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Suarez would prefer a move to Anfield as he would relish playing alongside Fernando Torres and also the number of Spanish speaking players in the squad.

The striker's contract with Ajax runs out only in 2013 thus a substantial offer in the range of €25 million could be needed to prise him away from the Amsterdam Arena
