Traore reminds me too much of Babel to allow me to consider a move for him

I'm scratching my head trying to think of a player who has gone to a midtable or bottom team from a top team while clearly being too good for them and later moving on to a better team.

The only one I can think of is Van der Saar.
Victor Moses? Bounced around for sure.

De Bruyne- Chelsea -> Wolfsburgh -> City.

Wolfsburg definitely doesnt count as a bottom team though. I can see Lukaku joining a top team in the next two years.

Zaha supposedly interesting Spurs at 25m or so.

I hope so, overrated for me and would fit right in at that shower of cunts.

I don't think this is Sissoko at all - Zaha is very very talented. He's just struggled with discipline. He's played some great games this year - and it's a risk worth taking here imo ... He shouldn't have left Palace the 1st time -

*trembling whisper*.. I know this is outrageous and all but I think Sissoko will become a good signing for Spurs still..

I know he's been wank most of the time but the last few games he has discovered the form that made him one of the most dangerous attacking outlets for France. He's such a weird player really, so I might get it wrong, but he's got some outstanding physical attributes as well as a decent set of skills. I wouldn't swap him with Mané, but even if he's going to be just 80-90% as effective as him Spurs will be happy.

Don't see mate ... and here's why ...

1) He was good against Manure, as expected. Why? He only really shows up in games against 'big opposition' - he did the same thing against Newcastle. Doesn't mean he cannot perform well in other games - but to get 100% from him, you need to play him against big teams time after time.
2) He's not that technically sound to be able to chip in with enough goals/assists to play behind the striker in Poch's system. He'll stick with Alli, even though he's been poor this year.
3) Poch clearly favors Wanyama/Dembele/Dier in the two CM spots behind the 3 AMs-Kane. So Sissoko will get chances with the Europa League BUT most likely on the flanks, which doesn't suit him.

1) Agree, and that is one of the reasons why he's difficult to 'read'. Does he even care?

2) I think he's better technically than people seem to recognize but he will play on their right wing imo where he can use his pace and power to take on defenders.

3) I think Poch's preferred line-up could end up looking like this: Alli - Eriksen - Sissoko behind Kane with Son and Lamela as backup. I think Sissoko thrives on the wing, against Hull he skipped past their defenders at will. He looked a bit unstoppable as he did for France in the Summer.

Sissoko is not nearly the same technical player as Son or Lamela, and he doesn't have their ability to sore goals ...
Impressing against Hull doesn't do it for me - it's a broken team, which most good teams will dominate.

You are right Lamela and Son are both more skilled and also more of a goal threat than Sissoko and I also agree that Hull is not a great benchmark but you can only play what's lined up against you and he certainly tore their defense apart time after time - not like Son or Mané would've done it but more like what you'd expect from a locomotive that simply just flattened the defenders in front of it..

I am not sure what's wrong with me to be honest, I liked him at Newcastle too and wanted us to be in for him in the Summer. I could end up look a bit silly when Spurs offload him in the Summer to Lens for £4M.

Sissoko is what? 28? He will never be consistent enough.

At times he looks a genuine top class talent; powerful, direct and very hard to stop. In those games when he's really at it, he looks like he could play for any team in the world

Equally often looks like a thick, lazy cunt who can't even master the basics of football and how no idea where to run or what positions to take up

It's the type of signing that clubs like Everton and Spurs often make, because the risk factor is high

Lamela a goal threat?

A Hahahahahaha

To be honest he is one of the most frustrating players to watch. He is so greedy it beggars belief really. He did hit a golden patch in Italy for Roma scoring about 1 in 3 but other than that he's not shown too much in that department I guess. Son for me is by far the better player of the two.

That is pretty spot on..

Anyway, fuck Sissoko and Spurs - who will we go for in the window?

I have a feeling we will be disappointed and the only signings will be "for the future". We might get away with losing Mane if Coutinho is back by then and Origi maintains his goalscoring form, with Sturridge stepping up for the 2nd half of the season.

Ojo is playing again as well and will come into the frame and if Grujic can get up to fitness, he could be another option in midfield so that leaves the defence where Klavan has come good and Mignolet is back in the side.

So that could mean we will stick with what we have...

It'll be interesting to see if we go for a high profile (but inevitably young) CB such as Sule to replace the outgoing Sakho or Klopp place this faith in Gomez.

I do think we'll spend heavily on a wide forward / striker.
