January/summer targets

I don't watch much La Liga and probably watch Barca 3/4 times a season but I thought Rakitic had been one of their better players over the past 18 months?

Making room for Coutinho in the summer?

He was left out of the squad entirely against Villareal, which is a bit strange, and has been in and out of the team over the last few months, but I think he was injured in October, so that may explain it.

He also had a bit of a dip the season before last, I think.

Has not been a main feature for them this year ... The whole team has slipped this year - 10 wins in 17 games I think.

I think he's quality. I'd be surprised Barcelona were willing to lose him, TBH, and slightly concerned by the gap in the squad it creates. Eek.

They've only played 17 league games and hes featured in the vast majority of them, it hardly looks like hes been a bench warmer. My point is, hes been a decent signing for what he cost, from what ive seen, read and heard. At this point of the season with them being a few points behind a strong looking Real would they really let him go?

what's he even worth? £40m? If he goes, im clenching for Coutinhos future here.

If Barca are flogging off players.... there's a forward of their's I wouldn't mind.

Uruguayan chap - racist, bites people, only scores against the wee teams, but makes Sturridge look good.

I think they've secured him on a new contract, buy-out clause €200m

Chelsea and Conte want Fenerbache's Simon Kjaer at around £15M according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Not sure he's actually good enough for the very top. When he's good he can be very commanding but I don't think his passing game and concentrations levels are always top tier.

You realise he's Danish, right?
Very Danish, he's even blonde.

The thing is and I know this will come as quite a shocker, there are actually more decent Danish players around than the around 8 I've suggested over the years for Liverpool. Maybe that's 9 in fact but who keeps score, right? I try to ONLY promote the ones that'll be very awesome but even then sometimes I don't quite get it right..

And Kjaer has actually been on my 'one to watch' list on here before I just don't think he has developed into the top-top defender I would've thought back then. Maybe I am actually wrong, he is very strong, good in the air, fast. His passing can just be very erratic/frustrating at times, a lack of composure now and then too.

If Klopp called me, and to be honest I have no idea why he hasn't, and asked for the one defender we should buy to move forward it would be the Chelsea-owned Alan Hansen look-a-like Andreas Christensen.

Thinking about it Denmark also practices a 3-4-3 as Conte do with Chelsea and Kjaer plays alongside Christensen there. I don't like where this is heading as I want the Chavs to make a major mistake and sell on their Danish youngster.

kjaer has progressively been moving down clubs and getting shifted on for the past few years though hasnt he? From bundesliga to turkish league with the italian and french inbetween...

I remember one you skandos creaming your pants over him back when rafa was here, no idea if it was you or one of the others.

It was probably me then. Don't think we've had that many Danes on here and the Swedes and Norwegian would never 'cream themselves' over a Danish player I guess.

And I think you raise a valid point really. From Italy to Germany and now Turkey. Kinda the wrong way around career-wise.

He's just been voted the best defender in the Turkish league with almost 50% of the votes which seems to be a rather impressive margin but how good is the Turkish league? I've not seen him play a single game for Fener so I have no idea really.

Conte knows him from his probably best spell back when he was at AS Roma and he does have some of the traits of a commanding powerful central defender you'd be expecting to find in the Premiership. I am just not convinced anymore.

He's 'only' 27 mind and has seemingly found his best form (alongside Skrtel) and got a great smile on him..

Lol.

I actually suggested that we swapped him with Skrtel (when he looked Fener bound last year) as he would be an upgrade on Sakho.

While that is probably still correct I have to admit I am a bit stupid..

I'd cream myself for one of the Laudrup brothers.

BTW who was that one hit wonder at Euro 1992 who had chewing gum in his mouth while playing.

The danish must like their game whilst playing football.

I read an article a while back about the history of olympic football and how some danish? goalkeeper was chewing gum in a match back in the 60'? olympic final, they conceded a peno, the keeper took his gum, stuck it to the post, saved the peno and put the gum back in his mouth and cracked on.

He'd be back up and replacement for Terry when he'll probably go/retire in summer.

[article]Iranian national football team's international striker Sardar Azmoun will stay at Rostov FC until the end of the season.

The Iranian striker has caught of the eyes of big European clubs after showing a series of impressive displays for Russian outfit Rostov.

Liverpool, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund have expressed their interests in signing Azmoun in the January transfer window.

“Azmoun will go nowhere. We talked to the player and he accepted to stay in the club until the end of the season. I think he has made the best decision,” chairman of the FC Rostov Board of Directors Ali Uzdenov said.

The Iranian international striker has started his training under guidance of Rostov coach Kurban Berdyev.[/article]

Sardar Azmoun.... he sounds like the sort of failed bounty hunter that would prop up the a bar in Mos Eisley.

So when exactly do the Bundesliga young talents come running to us while Klopp is at the helm, coz with his reputation so far the amount of shiny, young German talent signing for us is a big fat zero. Its the hope that kills...

Karius is one.I suppose.

I'm also a little disappointed/ surprised that there hasn't been at least one or two more.
