Hopefully not and he stays at Inter/in Italy like Pirlo did, like De Rossi did, like Gattuso did etc.
I agree, hopefully not, I don't want to see him @LFC either because I am racist, as I don't trust Italians to be any good in a liverpool shirt.
Jadon Sancho is off, and their MF sucks, the Glazers will need to placate the fans, so i could see them going for him. The great thing is some of their fans are turning on ETH which raises the pressure and the toxicity.

I think that will depend on how we are doing. Still in with a title shot? He'll stay until the Summer.

Doesn’t he leave for Afcon for 6weeks though? £150 mill bid for someone who’s going to miss six weeks anyway is mighty tempting.

He could be back in like 2 weeks if Egypt don’t progress.

As it stands he’d definitely miss Bournemouth away & the FA Cup, then it’s touch and go for Chelsea home & Arsenal away.

Ultimate Liverpool source reveals Sporting star ‘one to watch’ for 2024, with Newcastle battle looming

James Holland 14 Sep 2023 11:09 AM

Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Goncalves in action against Man City
Liverpool could move for Sporting Lisbon attacker Pedro Goncalves in the 2024 summer transfer window as the Portugal international is ‘one to watch’, although Newcastle United will provide competition for his services.
Goncalves is a 25-year-old left winger who can also operate on the right flank or as a central attacking midfielder. Goncalves spent time at clubs including Braga, Valencia and Wolves before landing at Sporting in August 2020.
So far, the versatile star has made 133 appearances for the Portuguese giants, registering 59 goals and 34 assists in that time. Goncalves first came to the attention of major English clubs last season when he scored a stunning goal from near the halfway line against Arsenal in the Europa League round of 16. Sporting went on to dump the Gunners out of Europe by winning on penalties.
Since then, Goncalves has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Villa reportedly made an approach to see if they could snare the two-cap international during the summer. However, Unai Emery’s side were told they would have to obliterate their transfer record to sign him by spending a huge €80million (then £68.3m). Villa thought this price was too high, which is why the player never ended up in the West Midlands.
During an interview with CaughtOffside, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Goncalves’ situation. While he states that there has not been anything concrete yet from the likes of Liverpool or Newcastle, the two clubs could engage in a transfer battle next year as Goncalves is ‘one to watch’.

“Despite reports linking him with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle, there is nothing concrete on Pedro Goncalves at the moment,” Romano said.
“Sporting always wanted to keep Pedro so it was never a negotiation last summer. For sure he’s going to be one to watch in the next years, but at the moment people close to him guarantee there’s nothing decided or close.”
Goncalves could end up being a great capture for Liverpool, should they beat Newcastle to his signature in 2024. Given his versatility, he would be able to bolster several positions for Jurgen Klopp.
Goncalves’ signing would also help to partially offset the loss of Mo Salah, should Al Ittihad return with another colossal bid for the Egyptian at the end of the campaign.

Terem Moffi looks like an interesting player.

2 goals and an assist in Paris the other day.

A 32 year old heading into the last 6 months of his contract isn't leaving on a big offer. Unless Man U decide that they'll do business with us.

Sources: Liverpool will accept 'big' offer for Thiago in January

Liverpool would be willing to accept a “big” offer for Thiago Alcantara in January, sources have told Football Insider.
Thiago is on high wages at Anfield and the club could be tempted to sell if there is a suitably high offer in the winter window.

The 32-year-old has entered the final year of his contract which is set to expire in the summer of 2024.
Football Insider revealed (23 September), that Liverpool have opened talks with Thiago over an extension to his current deal.

Advertising we'd accept a big offer?

I know Klopp loves him - but why in fucks name would you want to extend Thiago’s contract?

He didn’t survive the first contract.

Klopp has a history of not being able to let go. Joking aside, I don't think its true, just because no one will pay more tha £1-2m for him with 6 months left. To prolong his career, he either goes to a less physically demanding league like La Liga, and we know Barca likes freebies or take a huge pay rise and go Saudi but kiss the international career goodbye

Klopp also has a record of fucking people out the door if they aren’t up for it.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with trying to keep and retain top quality players that fit the team needs Vs constantly selling & replacing - like everything, it’s about balance.

Thiago was just as bad as Fab and Hendo last season. He is considerably worse because he's hardly available and even when he comes back from injury, he needs alot of games to play himself back into form, then he breaks down again.

Giving him a new contract is like bringing Keita back. He's a bust, we need to let go.

Thiago out and Andre in is just about the only thing I'd consider likely in January. We'll probably not sign anyone bar massive injury issues.

If we are still needing a 6, what would people think of Tomas Soucek? He should be cheap as his contract runs out in the summer. West Ham fans rate him highly.

As to CBs Lloyd Kelly or Tosin Adarabioyo? However, knowing us, we will chose to go without

Soucek’s too old - he’ll be 29 in Feb, Endo has filled our aging DM position, plus West Ham will want a fortune.

Just sign Andre in Jan and spend the rest of the season slowly integrating him - if indeed he is good enough.

As for the 2 CB’s, I’ll repeat my previous question - are either of them good enough. As things stand, is it better to go with Quansah for now?

Someone like Zambo Anguissa or Locatelli.

Schlager at Leipzig could be another interesting option to keep an eye on.

Maybe Ozcan at Dortmund? Had a pretty good partnership going with Jude last season. Liked
some of the things I saw from him in the CL.

I think Klopp has no more interest in a dedicated DM. His reticence in playing Endo may potentially mean he's happy with Szobo, Mac, Jones, Endo, Elliott, Bajcetic, Thiago, Gravenberch and Clark and Gakpo in a pinch. Until Thiago leaves ... and then I think we'll buy another CM.

Let's be honest come Jan we're unlikely to get anyone. If Thaigo does go in Jan, that leaves the door open to get another MF, and if Endo isn't adapting, then Soucek who will only have 6 months left could be an option for £2-5m, you can still get Andre. Don't get me wrong, I want Endo to succeed but I am having my doubts.
As to the CB options, Tosin is in the mould of Konate and Kelly is a ball carrying CB who is able to take the ball from defence to MF.
Hopefully our @King Binny can give us some stats on either CBs (that's if he wants to and has time) and as always we're eternally grateful.

Why would we want Soucek if we can get Andre and we still have Endo, who may not be pulling up trees, but can still do a job.

I’d even say, why get Andre if Mac A is going to play at the base of the midfield.

Thiago will likely go in the summer - no-one in their right mind is offering a fee for him in January - we might release him on a free and save wages.

As I said before, and you're right, the chance of adding to the MF is slim. As to someone paying a fee for a player, Man U paid £60m for a player whose contracts ends in 12M. We paid £20m for a 31 year old who had 12M remaining. I could easily see a Saudi club coming in and offering couple of mill for Thiago. We have Hendo, Bobby and Fabs all of whom would be happy to work with Thiago

And yet you reckon West Ham will let Soucek go for 2M.

None of those are in any way comparable to Thiago - not least because, he can sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

We “might” get a couple of million, but that’s in the realms of we may as well have him keep him as a cadaver for the medical team to practice on for 6months.

We “probably” don’t need another midfielder even if Thiago goes.
