James Milner

Man City are going to be slightly in the shit for home grown players next year, with Milner, Lampard and possibly Boyata now going off the books. That would leave them with Hart/Wright/Clichy I think. Presume that'll put them right in the market for Sterling, maybe even Clyne, Wilshere etc.

Why?

Model professional - hard working - mature - talented - actually can show everyone some medals.

I'd say, if he does sign, he should be a prime candidate - I'm not convinced Henderson is any where near ready.

I've always been adverse to signing a player and making him your captain, for me you have to have been at the club a few years and earned the right, like Henderson has.

City are bookies' favourites to sign Sterling apparently, though some reports say the little gobsh!te would prefer the Arse. It may be wishful thinking but I'd hope we could rival them for Clyne, because with Zabaleta in their squad Clyne may not be assured of a first team place there and presumably won't like that idea. As for Wilshere, it'd be interesting to know what potential buyers think of his off-the-field antics.

No.... a journalist has claimed we're offering him £150k a week (as if he'd actually know), Mark had heard we're offering him captaincy (and I'm sure he'll admit to not really knowing), we aren't "well stocked" in his preferred position (Henderson, Can, Allen, Lucas) and he's arguably better than all of them anyway.

Journalists claim we're signing him, do you dispute that too? I'll believe the wage story until proven otherwise.

We are well stocked. Henderson and Can both need to be accommodated, and ideally a DM as well. And Coutinho ahead of them.

The DM should be where we're throwing all this cash at, not a slightly better version of Henderson.

Selective much? There are two conflicting stories about his wage, you choose to opt for the one that suits your argument and then decide to use it as the focal point of your argument. Great stuff.

What's the conflicting story?

I'd also prefer to appoint someone who's been at the club for a while, but I wouldn't go as far as "have to". Depends on the individuals involved IMO.

If those at the club are up to it - it's all situational.

Henderson doesn't inspire absolute confidence in me as a captain.

Ideally - you'd not announce it for a few months to see who steps up more.

What, in that they're two players with barely any similarities?
Signed at 29 on a free.. Never played as often as some thought they should of been... Both can play on the wing or in the 'hole'

Though Milner is not injury prone..

On Paper it is a decent signing.. but I do worry, as our history with 'free transfers' over the years has been appalling

Gary Mac, Aurelio, Litmanen....

Joe Cole is better than messi.

I don't have, distribute or control Liverpool FC's money so what they offer or pay and to whom is of no concern to me.

They should absolutely make good use of what they do have and if they want Milner and can pay him I'd be happy.

I'm interested in what he brings to the team. I think he'd bring a lot. We should pay him at the rate the other top Premier League clubs would. I want my targets to be excited by the prospect of playing for Liverpool FC and not be put off by money considerations.

You can have a player who's excieted at the prospect of playing for a club, or one who's been bribed to play for it.

One or the other, not both.

I think you may be overwrought. Paying him as per the top clubs removes an obstacle. Let the football be his main consideration.

The same people who said we signed Lallana for 16m.

Twitter spazzeratti. Didnt you start a thread about our bid for Kovacic based on Gazzetto Dello Sport?
120k is from Di Marzio I think, which is about as credible as your link.
