Rebel, that's a spectacularly bad post, even for you.
But numerous press articles fingering Benitez, the man who buys players for 20 million and who are then worth 80 million as a problem are heralded as "spot on". The same press and fans who cannot see past a few short term results or league positions
Oh fuck off Rebel. Torres is an example of this, and others are worth more than they were bought for, but what about Keane? Aquilani (who could potentially do fuck all)? Dosenna? Riera? Should I go on?

Shall we start on the £40m wasted during the Summer of 2008?

Blinkered doesn't even come close.
those sums are measley compared to what City, Chelsea and Man Utd are throwing around and lets forget they've all got 80m+ a year MORE in wage bills, imagine what we could do with that every year. we'd be able to afford loads of top quality players and I bet Benitez would assemble a top class squad but we live in reality and are more tortoise than hare
Chelsea and United aren't throwing that kind of money around now, they haven't for a couple of seasons. Infact one could argue if you look at United's squad on paper, they need some additions.
Plus the loon clearly forgets that we are consistently in the top 5 wage payers in the prem, and usually only around 15-20% off top spot (which the London clubs would argue they make up in ticket prices, and the Mancs through stadium capacity).

IF WE HAD MORE MONEY REBEL YOU SPAZZ, BENITEZ WOULD STILL BE MERRILY SPUNKING HALF OF IT UP THE WALL
I have to interject here. There's a correlation between silverware and wage bills even more so over the last 5 years. Also there's no evidence to suggest that Rafa would 'spunk' anything up any wall. We used to have the 2nd highest capacity stadium in the country. We used to regularly smash the transfer record. If you are suggesting that any manager could come in with a net spend of zero and improve us, you're in Cloud Cuckoo land.
No evidence to suggest Rafa is spunking anything up the wall?

8 million pound loss on keane in 6months
4 million pound loss on Dossena for a handful of starts
6 million on Morientes
A 20million midfielder who never plays....

And regularly smash the transfer record? Give me a fucking break. Try about a little over a handful of times.

And I wasnt suggesting anywhere above that a manager could come in and spend nothing and improve us...but I am now; Mourinho, in a heartbeat, with no doubts whatsoever.

you mean the Robbie Keane he recovered 15 million on and wasn't allowed to spend on another striker meaning we have a rookie when Torres is out. yeah, good example to make my point
12million. Total.

THOSE YANK BASTARDS - why wont they give Rafa more money - he only loses approximately 50% of a players value, for a minimal contribution, over a 6month period.
That is still money taken away from the squad and means a rookie plays instead of a seasoned professional when our top striker is injured, which has been a lot this season which goes some way to explain the poor campaign

You don't understand football but prefer to rant and rave, i'm done with you

Hahahahahaha! I dont understand football

Rafa: por favor Yankee bosses, please can I have 20million for Robbie Keane
Stetson wearers: Hmmmmmm, okay Rafa, but make this a good one
...........6mths later........
Rafa: Hola Yankee bosses, the Irishman likes the casinos too much, and Gareth Barry isnt here to pass to him, I wish to sell him
Stetson wearers: Hmmmmmm, okay Rafa, but you know that's an 8m loss (minimum) in 6mths
Rafa: Yankee bosses! More money immediately for transfers please
Rebel: Give the man money - I UNDERSTAND FOOTBALL!

Spazz.

But he originally signed Keane. He had the opportunity to buy a 20 million rated player. He bought Keane, didn't fancy him and sold him back and lost money on the deal. Yes the owners did withold the Keane money but Rafa shot himself in the foot by wasting it originally.

bees bee (or buzz, whatever)

rafa messed up with keane but what's that got to do with the owners withholding money from a sale? seriously, what kind of fucked up shit is that?!

or rather the owners shot the squad in the foot when they disappeared with the money

Benitez recouped money off of Keane which was a good and practical deal, the fact that he wasn't given the money to buy a striker means a rookie plays, the fact that he still hasnt been given it means we look for free signings while other clubs are making massive bids for various players. this is the reality now

chelsea and manu's squad is PATENTLY better, so if rafa was spending a comparable amount of money (which he wasn't) how is he supposed to overtake the above teams?

i think H&G were within their rights to withold the keane money, but only if they had genuine misgivings about his management.

what they actually did was give him a gold-plated 5 year contract, tying us to a manager we can neither get rid of nor offer the means to succeed.

that's why they're the real problem, much more so than the manager.

unless they are sacking the manager (which they didn't) how does them withholding the money help the club. in the short term it helps pay for the loan in the long term you see the impact it has had with our inability to purchase a striker which in all likelihood will see us out of the CL making harder to pay the loan.

As a side thought, how does everyone think Benitez would perform with the current Madrid team if he was appointed in the summer?

World class keeper.
One very good defensive mids, one excellent one.
Two of arguably the best attacking talents on the planet.
An experienced goal scorer.
Two excellent young strikers with the world at their feet.
Good bench.
Endless transfer money.

Fwank Wibery (possibly) on the way in the summer.

Thoughts?

The owners are perfectly within their rights to withold transfer money. We may not like it, but that's life. Raf buying a shit celtic fan didn't help obviously.

He'd finish second or third in La Liga and get fired halfway through the following season. I don't think the Madrid job is for him at all, personally.

I can't even be arsed to debate with those who are spectacularly missing the point.

I would however just like to point out that every figure Rebel has put in his posts is wrong. Every single one of them. That's quite an achievement.

And his excuse about how Benitez has increased the revenues ? Well is Rafa negotiating our sponsorship deals and TV deals now?

No but Benitez attracting players like Torres to the club has increased our profile big time as have the runs to the CL finals which translates into better sponsorship. Sponsors weren't paying 18 mil a year to have their name on Biscan's shirt

No they havent. They have been the responses when you have refused to answer other posters challenges to your points.

Lets be honest, when you compliment Rafa by calling the sale of Keane back to Spurs a solid bit of business, everyone and their uncle knows that you are a myopic fool.

Youve been called it before, but you seriously are the piano player on the Titanic - you probably dont know what that means, but you should simply accept that you are.

so the nitpickers want to talk about players signed like Keane

OK Rosco, who thinks my figures are BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT

Add up all our CL prize money since 2004. Add up all our player acquisitions since 2004. Then take away our player sales and tell me what you end up with, you expert figures LFC man. Do this one night and tell me if Benitez is really running down the club and has pissed away a fortune without a care in the world, or if he's actually paid for every single transfer in prize money while the increasing revenues have gone into the pockets of under performing and unappreciative players who are worshiped and to pay off G&H's interest bill

I don't really get the argument that buying loads of shite players is excused because we used to get into the Champions League

Do my challenge Rosco one night and post the results i'd be interested to see how badly Rafa has managed our club

Who signed those underperforming and unappreciative players?
yep and it's a scandal that they underperform and 'need an arm around the shoulder', many of these sulking players owe Benitez a lot, including their fat and rising contracts while he has been starved of money to invest in the team and bring them better players to play with. So maybe it's not all the managers fault, maybe the players should look at themselves and offer to take a paycut, many of them will have to contractually if we're not in the CL, that will sort out the men from the boys
