I know we have a couple of weeks left of the season and could yet pull off a miracle but I must say its really nice to be looking forward to Summer for once. We will have money to spend, new stadium on the horizon, Champions league football to look forward to and a real foundation to build on.
We have a winning squad with real class players like Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Gerrard, Skrtel, Allen, Henderson.
We have Wisdom, Texeira, Suso, Wilson etc ready as the next generation. We have a manager who is the envy of the world of football....

I remember saying when he got the job it will take a few years but here we are, against he odds, against the oil billionaires challenging. We seem to be on the cusp of a special period and if we make good choices in summer should really build on this success.
Its so nice to think we are amongst it again and not striving to hang on.

Im so chuffed. August is going to be so exciting.
 
This is no dig at you but It's funny, pre Chelsea game there was fuck all talk amongst Liverpool fans of next season, it was all about the monumental march towards the Title.

Now there's threads galore on different LFC forums about next season, is it a defence mechanism?

First para's a bit OTT. I can't speak for Liverpool fans as a whole, but a number of posters on here have certainly been talking about next season, and the future in general.
 
Yep, we've been discussing youth, reserves and new recruits for a while now.

Don't think that's true, mate... Several people were saying that this eason has been a wonderfully unexpected ride on a journey that'll take another couple of seasons to truly complete. We shouldn't be challanging this season. Next season and beyond, I have different expectations.

Then the World Cup will bring you crashing back down to earth!
 
There's a lot of 23-25 year old potential stars that will be willing to leave 'bigger' clubs and re-create themselves here ... Isco has barely had a look in for Madrid, and won't really with the way Ancelotti has that team set up. Martinez @ Bayern etc ... Buy smartly, ensure our backline is readied and we will bef ine.
 
It is partly a defense mechanism to cope; but the past few months have been an incredible ride.
After our losses against Citeh and Mourcunt in December a lot of our hopes were crashing down; there was even a thread wondering if we would even make top 4.
As I remember it was only Ryan who was convinced we'd make top 4 , and easily.
Most thought we would, but secretly felt it was a big ask.

We still have a shot for the title, but all we can do is focus on the next game.
Being gutted is fine, and I'm as gutted as anyone.
But when was the last time we were in the race right to the wire?

The mancs can never throw that fucking 'Scouse Boom-Bust cycle' in our face anymore, and thats something.

I'll tell you what really worries me; we've spent the past 4 months playing quality football, with a team that's gelled and with full belief.
But we've been punching so far above our weight that it's become ridiculous; we still put to the pitch with a good first 11, but an often laughable bench.
That's where we will come undone next year, is my fear. There will be some money, and we will really have to buy wisely and intensify our youngsters progressing.

Ilori, Mclaughlin et al have to be given chances; it can be done, Sterling's shows the way.

Having said all that, I am far more optimistic than I was this time last year.
There is a team spirit and work ethic in this squad which not even Rafa or Kenny achieved, and I wish I knew why.
We have a good manager, and with some luck and shrewd signings, we'll be in the mix again next May. As we should be.

I don't think I was the only one, but yeah it probably does make sense that I was right.
