"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

What if we just gave him 2 minute cameos at the end of each game, under the guise of protecting his back?

That would probably work. But does his presence and that course of action have an impact on the rest of the squad?

Sakho being dropped doesn't seem to have affected the squad, I'd imagine coutinho wouldn't either. I don't see him being a horrible evil influence around the club, just see him sulking and being miserable

Easy. Hire a physio to work solely with him pre match, and during the game. Isolate him that way. Lot of rub downs and stretches away from the group.

Has special training in between games. Low impact, solitary training.

We cannot risk his back, we need him fit for the length of his contract

Also, the treatment has the same effect as a head on a pike in ye olden days. Trophy to show not to fuck with us

He does, if we leave him in the reserves for a year he can seek to terminate his contract:
15 Terminating a contract with sporting just cause
An established professional who has, in the course of the season, appeared
in fewer than ten per cent of the official matches in which his club has been
involved may terminate his contract prematurely on the ground of sporting
just cause. Due consideration shall be given to the player’s circumstances in the
appraisal of such cases. The existence of sporting just cause shall be established
on a case-by-case basis. In such a case, sporting sanctions shall not be imposed,
though compensation may be payable. A professional may only terminate his
contract on this basis in the 15 days following the last official match of the
season of the club with which he is registered.

He has been injured for 5 official matches already. A couple more and his case is over.

I guess the main thing to consider beyond the obvious is the impact on the dressing room - will he be a poisonous influence?

Also, any chance it will make us a less attractive option for players if they think it's going to be WW3 if a Barca / Real come calling?
Players with long term designs on playing for Barca / Real will probably insist on release clauses .. which may in turn make them less attractive to us.

I don't think it is necessarily that straightforward.
What would his friends in the squad think ?
What would other potential signings think ?
What about agents ?

I get why we'd like to show him who's in charge but it might not necessarily send the right message out.

Edit - i just realised i've essentially quiffed Keniget's post

I can't see Coutinho being a poisonous influence. Was it Gerrard or Carragher who said he was a quite lad and keeps relatively to himself. I can't see him being vocal and that disruptive in the dressing room. I presume Milner and Henderson are the 'leaders' in the dressing room. The two players that people listen to and respect. They will want the best for the club and will hopefully keep Coutinho's friends within the group concentrating on Liverpool.

Who are Coutinho's friends? Moreno? Frimino? Frimino's game is based around his hard work ethic. I can't seem him downing tools out of solidarity.

I'm sure it would be a lot more disruptive if say Sturridge for example was in this position. His passive aggressive scornful stares combined with his extroverted personality would be a lot more disruptive in my opinion.

Keep Coutinho, tell him to play, tell him it's a WC year, he can leave next season. If his form drops off then we rotate him out of the side until he knuckles down again.
DO NOT SELL. Then again, that is always my stance when it comes to our best players. I wanted to even keep Sterling under the condition that he would sack his agent and apologise.

I know you're right

Just want to fuck him over before the world cup because I'm malicious

I'm starting to want to like William Ballbag again. He has been on it on the Coutinho situation.

Horses for courses. He used to know loads of lfc stuff thanks to Rafa & the Spanish contingent.

Now he knows bugger all about Liverpool most of the time, but when it involves a Spanish club he does genuinely tend to have sources which make him more reliable.

He's also an authority on "making things up"

He's just one player. We've had hundreds. Some great, loads good, some not so great, and some utter gash. We are Liverpool football club. He'll go sooner or later. Whether he retires here at 35 or somewhere else.
Onward!

It's not exactly a surprise that he wasn't injured. The club knew this all along.
But I'm liking the clubs stance, we don't sell until we get what we want.

Really wouldn't mind selling him at that fee because I don't see him fetching that figure (hopefully no or realistic add ons) next summer transfer window. However, it does take the mickey out of the official statement.

Still not happy selling our best players, however if it is as rumoured Lemar, VVD and another, it's pretty much the best way to do it.

He leaves without our blessings...you know what happens to those that leave without our blessings....they get fucked badly with ill fortune. He will realize what a bad move this is for him. Suarez left giving his best and i still love the guy.
