"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

Did Dortmund get 135M cash for Dembele or does that figure include loads of add-ons?

When the deal was announced, Barça reported that the fee was €105 million up front for the player plus some add-ons, which were not specified. Later on, Borussia Dortmund said that the add-ons could increase the fee by 40% and Bartomeu confirmed this on Monday.

Bartomeu explained that the add-ons were 50% contingent on the player’s performance and 50% on the performance of the team. In other words, €20 million depend on what Dembélé brings and €20 million on how Barça get on in all competitions.

Ahhh, we should be getting more than that then. Demebe is a major talent but still only 20. Coutinho is established.

I'm sorry, but I don't get those who are willing to "forgive" him if he 'agrees to knuckle down for another season' like Suarez did. I can't really see him doing that (or should I say, to the effect/extent of Suarez).

The Suarez situation was different. When we (apparently) made the proposal, the (only?) official bid at that point in time was from Arsenal, a domestic league "rival". It was evident that for a player of his talent, the bigger foreign clubs will come calling with another brilliant season of football (the season before his last was the first in which he was truly prolific - 30 in 44 app, the previous season 17 in 39 app). There was also obviously his on field issues (which he might have felt a little sorry and wanted to 'repay' us).

In Coutinho's case, who else will come calling + offer the amt of money that's being mentioned? I can only think of PSG. The moment he threw his toys out of the pram (albeit indirectly), the only thing I was concern about is getting the best possible deal. Call me stupid unless that 1 extra season's going to increase his valuation (like Suarez's case), I don't see much point. It should be pay up (Barca) or honor your contract (Coutinho) - no "promises" from our side.

Fucking love it when binny gives an opinion

He's always on the fucking money

He needs to be promised the move will happen, his emotions will settle down, he'd be on a high, then a few hours later to be laughed at and told we're only joking.

I hope some scally from Norris Green launches a shit stained Barca shirt at him some point this season.

But I think it makes sense to take a really high bid if Barca come back with one.

I now think this situation is conditional based on wether we get Lemar. Lemar signs, Phil goes and vice versa if Phil is forced to stay. At this point I'd rather we get Lemar and Phil fucks off tbh. Can't stand a sulking player ala Alexis Sanchez in our promising squad.

Yeah but then we (the fans) have still been mugged off.

Rumours (strong from the club)
VVD - 60m
Keita - 70m
Salah - 40m
Thats £170 we were supposedly willing to invest and had all but signed in May. With ZERO mention of Coutinho

Now
Keita 50m but next year
Salah 40m
Lemar 60m
Thats 150m but with the sale of £150m player.
Net of next to fuck all, and thats unnacceptable.

We SHOULD be expecting £100m+ of signings WITHOUT selling Coutinho
We should be spending closer to £300m if he leaves.
We should be getting
Vvd 60m
Lemar 60m
Keita 50m
Salah 40m
And Either a DM or a CF for proper money aswell.

If we keep Phil and sign Salah, VVD, and Lemar with Keita next window, thats an outstanding window in my books.

People will say no CM, but i'm happy with Henderson, Gini, Can and Milner competing for two places if we have Lallana, Coutinho and Lemar competing for the place ahead of them, against weaker teams we could even go Can - Lemar - Coutinho, the thought of that, damn.

I sometimes listen to the free Anfield Wrap podcasts and she is sometimes on them. I don't actively listen to her, much as you wouldn't actively listen to fingernails on a blackboard, but you cant stop hearing it.

Disagree, Oncy but I get the sentiment.

Let's face it, Liverpool is not the title-winning force we once were. So, we have to be consistently in the champions league and challenging for the title, even winning it and with at least a trophy a season before we can be expected to spend £300m without selling the likes of Coutinho.

I didnt say that.
I would expect to spend 300m if we sold Coutinho.

The Keita deal is highly unusual... Spending 50 odd million on a player a year in advance? Is that even allowed if we play them in the CL? isn't he now a de facto loan player?

But tactically it is certainly intriguing, if Coutinho is feeling like an indentured servant hoping for greener pastures then we could offer to sell him now to Barca but keep him for a year whilst getting oodles of cash up front from Barca... IF Barca truly want him then they can cough up now or if not then we can turn to Coutinho and explain that we agreed to sell him and the other plantation owners didn't really want him.

Either way a winner.

It must be a hard, hard life earning 150,000 quid a week to kick a footy.... the tyranny of life itself must weigh on his soul....

I like it.

I'd still keep him 100%

Fuck Barca and fuck the money.

He'all still be worth loads next season but we need all the creative cover we can get.

Our squad is still thin

I think we should strike a deal to sell him to Barca in 2018, on one of the following conditions:

- We win the league; or

- We win the CL.

Anything less and we trade him to Monaco or Southampton.

I would also keep him for another year and will be distraught and disillusioned if we sell but if we can keep him whilst Keita style dealing his sale to Barca then we keep him happy during his remaining stay.

Coutinho is a very fine player, that is true, and he is approaching his peak years now but selling him for a ridiculously high fee and retaining his happier services is maybe beneficial for us.

IF they were looking at splurging 130M on him, in truth he is a really good player but is he really a 130M pound player??

Yes, the market is mental and has been stratified and inflated by Oil money so it is impossible to really predict what will happen in future to prices, the example which sticks out in my mind is that no-one in the world would have said that Kyle Walker is a 50M pound right back.... That Neymar deal was dizzying... but...

The conflagration of huge TV money in the EPL and fucking dizzy and blind oil- team splashes have made the market crazy but ... I still think 130M is a lot of money even for a player as good as Coutinho.

Sell him for big cash but keep him for another year to make sure we don't thin the squad?? Just a thought...

Do you not remember Goetze, BVB, Munich and the champions league final a few years back? This is rare in England, but common place elsewhere.
