"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

The only if we use the money on a few weirdly players shouldn't be an argument either. We have again spent next to nothing, after spending nothing in January and very little last summer .. comparatively speaking.
FSG might well sell and buy two or three before the window closes but they are still not spending enough.
We've spent less than 40m net since Klopp joined us. Crazy.

The Mirror say we've agreed to sell for 148m

The Mirror seems a bit confused, because now they say this:

  • 10:13, 28 AUG 2017

Barcelona could turn to RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita after seeing their move for Philippe Coutinho hit the buffers.

Liverpool have rejected every approach from the Spanish side and it now looks as though the Brazilian will stay for at least one more year.

Catalan paper Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have now turned their attention to Keita, who was himself a Liverpool target for much of the summer.

Leipzig turned down all of Liverpool's offers and the reds subsequently gave up their pursuit.
It is unclear whether Barcelona would have better luck.

If Coutinho goes and we manage to get VVD on the final day or something, then we'll actually have made massive profit over the last few years.
We're like the higher class version of Southampton. We even have half their players.

And the Star published this a few minutes ago:

Catalonia-based publication Sport yesterday claimed that Barcelona will sign Coutinho for £148m after Anfield chiefs relented to the Brazilian’s demands to move to the Nou Camp.

But Spanish football expert Balague tweeted: “No matter what Catalan press, LFC insist on Coutinho: they not negotiating, no meetings, no conference calls, no putting a price. Not selling.”

Barca and ourselves have seemingly put Leipzig on ignore whilst we decide what to do with their player..

if true they have no chance.

It's weird seeing that Coutinho compilation - I forget how long he's been here.

Some of those players I've completely forgotten about, e.g. Glen Johnson. Seems like an age ago.

I reckon 100m bid would have a chance. But I also reckon the Mirror have made this up.
Rangnick has already said they would consider it if a truly insane offer were to be lodged ... since we were not above €70m then €100m could definitely be considered in the right price bracket.

Totally hypothetically, but looking at us yesterday, we defo need a Keita more than we need a Coutinho. If we could get him and change for Coutinho then we should, no matter what the amounts are.

Not all teams are like Arsenal. Most are like WBA, Crystal Palace etc.

I mean in terms of squad balance. Our attack is ace. Our midfield is far from it.

I've seen a few people say Henderson was good yesterday. Accepting that performance as good is why we need Keita.

Mane gets injured and suddenly our attack is a lot less ace.

We don't have enough strength in depth to cope with injuries and inevitable dry patches that most players go through.

Yeah, I'd rather we had Coutinho in the squad. But I think we need Keita more. We've got Studge, Banana and Soswanky on the bench. Fuck all midfielders.

I think we all know we need him and hes our best player. A good start to the season hasnt changed that.

My position hasnt changed, IF we sign 3 or 4 world class or potentially world class players before the window shuts then fine.
But otherwise we must keep him.

I still genuinely dont think we will sell him. I just cant see us being that dumb

Couldn't agree more. Salah and Mane won't be able to play all season. Cuntinho is a massive a player for big games, scores against them too. Big teams with big ambitions don't sell their best players just because we played well in 4 games. Show our muscle by keeping him, we don't need to sell.

Selling Coutiniho could mean a serious profit for the club of over UK140M. That's more than winning the CL, and Premier League combined.

If they are looking to sell the business, it presents a very positive financial picture.

I will be seriously impressed if they don't sell this year. Any other owner would, quite frankly.

I've mentioned our lack of options on wing as a reason to keep Coutinho but another possibly more important reason to keep him is because he's one of the few players in our squad who can help us unlock defences when teams park the bus.
Despite the positive result against Palace we had trouble breaking their defence down. This is where having Coutinho might help. Our midfield is great when the game is more open and especially if we're counter attacking, but they look very subdued against teams who don't want play.
Again, unless we get a perfect replacement, which we probably can't, don't sell the cunt.

Lemar could be the dude

This is exactly where I'm at too, at the main reason I don't want to sell him yet. Can Lemar facilitate that role in the team? I'm not sure.

Possibly, but he has to adapt to English football. Let him get eased in with Coutinho having the reigns until he gets the hang of it. I know he's versatile but I'd rather go with a sure thing for the time being.

@Modo (I'm not gay) -

We had problems with Phillipe in the team to break down the parked busses. It makes no difference - Phil was in those games too and failed at it. In a perverse kind of way - it maybe better to not have him - that way the team can play more direct football to break down the parked busses.

You are, and it's OK.
Anyway, of course there are games when he's ineffective but its a team game, the more quality players you have on the pitch the more headaches you give the opposition.

LFC have made enquiries for kovacic and benzema ..#LFC

(Note: This guy was reporting yesterday and this morning that Keita was/would be in the uk, seems to have some contacts at least)
If we sign Lemar, Keita, Benzema and VVD along with Keita, Robertson and Solanke Barca can have Coutinho for free. Fuck him.
