"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

Coutinho now being "fit" for the Brazilian team, and the doctor saying its a stress related injury is just taking the piss further.
If we get Lemar, and rinse Barca for an insane fee, then fuck it I'd be tempted to sell the little cunt.

It might be more damaging to the club keeping him then not. Difficult decision for Klopp and the club.

Taking the piss?

It's fucking disgraceful and either highlights what an utter cunt his agent/advisor is, or he himself is.

You're healthy now? Lovely, are they paying your wages too? He should be given a retroactive full salary fine for each week he's been on strike.

And in a perfect world where he's an asset that doesn't lose value if we hold on to him? I'd keep him for the duration of his contract and let him rot without playing a game for any Liverpool team. But that won't happen - and I hope we never see him in our shirt again. Sign Lemar or whoever, and fuck him off to Barcelona. Fuck him and that club (oh, and Arsenal too - that's for Macca & Sean)

If he was genuinely injured we wouldn't have released him for international duty. We all know this was a cover story to save face while his transfer was being resolved

Yeah, this was what I was thinking. But a bit more diplomatic it seems. 😉

I don't get this attitude.

Yes, he's being a right cunt. Yes, he's a disloyal little rat.

However, he's one of our best players, & a player's personality rarely bothers me unless he hasn't got one (cf, Henderson, Owen) or is the world's biggest cunt on the pitch (cf Diouff), plus, it's a world cup year so not only can he not down tools all season, if his remarkable international form continues then his stock can be expected to rise even further.

Gone are the days that players played for the shirt or the fans, barring a few exceptions, all of these cunts are mercenary arseholes who would play for Third Reich FC in the Harold Shipman memorial Arena if the money was good enough.

I refuse to countenance the idea that getting rid makes sense, it is rewarding his & Barca's shitty behaviour by giving them exactly what they want. When your kid kicks & screams in public cos they want something you're not buying them you could easily make it stop by buying them it, but the next time your other kid wants something then you've just ensured the same reaction from that child cos they've seen that bad behaviour is rewarded.

Fuck that. Fuck Barca. Fuck Coutinho.

Five year contract. You honour it until we decide otherwise.

We have to release him regardless and the national team doctors decide on fitness.

We knew he was faking it all along though clearly

Yeah, & if he's still here & that 'injury' continues after the window closes then you get an independent doctor to confirm he's fit to play & fine him for all his wages each week.

No play no pay.

Yeah, I get all that. And I'd like nothing more than to flip the finger to both Barca and Coutinho and keep him.
He's one of our best players and selling him doesnt make sense, it never does.

But Coutinho has gone beyond what Suarez did, and even though it may look like rewarding Barca for their behaviour it also sees us replacing him with one of the biggest attacking talents in Europe, while rinsing Barca for a insane fee.

As I said, its a difficult situation. He's appaz said he never wants to play for us again and who knows how his presence will effect the rest of the squad. We seem to have a great team spirit and everyone seems to believe in Klopp. I dont want that little shitty rat to piss all over that.

If we get Lemar, its tempting to let him go. It really is.

There's no point playing hardball really. Coutinho could do the same, turn up for training as usual, play like crap on the field until we drop him and send him to the reserves. He continues to collect his pay cheque and would likely still head to the world cup in June.

Sad to say a contract only means you can hold onto a player, but the player holds all the cards.

If you think a player is going to make the impact expected of him at a World Cup by playing like crap during the year and then languishing in the under 23s, you're mistaken. He doesn't hold all the cards. What he holds is a contract, which he has to honour.

I don't give a fuck. Coutinho doesn't have to be some outstanding, upstanding human being. Just give 100% on the pitch while he's here and I'll be happy.

Barca want him longterm as a replacement for Iniesta. I can see us doing a deal like we have just done for Keita. We need him this year but the little rat bastard can fuck off next year. With our blessings.

You beat me to it.

Was going to say that there's no way a player gets truly match fit & sharp playing for the under 23s, hence why it takes so long for players to get back to form after being out now, it's just not competitive enough.

We can effectively put his career on hold for an entire season, just before a world cup.

He has no hand to play in this game.

So we play hardball then what's next?

My point is he could still make us pay him and yet contribute nothing to our season.

So what other cards are we holding really?

And our point is that, if he wants to succeed at the World Cup, he CAN'T 'contribute nothing'. To star in a World Cup he needs fitness, form and momentum - all of which he'd lose if he downs tools. So pick up those cards yet again.

Theoretically he can, but it's not going to happen. If he has to stay for a year then the benchmark on how to act has just been set by Keita, with his comments about giving his all for the remainder of the season, at his club.

He might have acted the cunt, but it's in no ones interests for him to play shite and continue to act like a prick. He's got to walk out on the pitch and not give the fans a reason to get on his back, the only way to do that is to perform, and the only way to stay relevant to the Brazilian World Cup squad is to do the same. Him spitting his dummy out won't happen.

For once we do seem to hold the cards, he's either going for an extortionate fee in the next few days, or we keep him for a year and get the best from him and just get on with it. It's not ideal but it's the best of a shitty situation.

Personally I hope we keep him and agree a fee now, it's at least a compromise from both parties then, rather than us typically bowing down to a top player and the call of another footballing giant. I think he's an idiot for going there now, particularly the way we are playing, but if it's his dream, then there's not really alot we can do about it, other than get our moneys worth and make sure he goes at least partly on our terms.

I guess the main thing to consider beyond the obvious is the impact on the dressing room - will he be a poisonous influence?

Also, any chance it will make us a less attractive option for players if they think it's going to be WW3 if a Barca / Real come calling?

It's true, world cup and all but we have to stop pretending we will go with the hardball nonsense.

The only way this is going to end well is for us to suck his dick and pacify him to agree on something that is in the best interests of both him and us. If he is not happy then there is no deal really. He could well take a chance even if he screw up his world cup, he won't be the first footballer to do so.

If we are top at Xmas, top our group in the CL and progress into the League cup semi final his attitude will be fine.
We would be without his petulant, cry me a river attitude.

If we got lemar I'd put the lads career on hold anyway. Player powers gone too far, some club needs to be a bellend and the villain at some point. Love for it to be us

Ive been concerned about that last point. But we KNOW Keita has ambition to play for Barca and it didnt seem to bother him.
Unless he knows something we dont of course.

He does, if we leave him in the reserves for a year he can seek to terminate his contract:
15 Terminating a contract with sporting just cause
An established professional who has, in the course of the season, appeared
in fewer than ten per cent of the official matches in which his club has been
involved may terminate his contract prematurely on the ground of sporting
just cause. Due consideration shall be given to the player’s circumstances in the
appraisal of such cases. The existence of sporting just cause shall be established
on a case-by-case basis. In such a case, sporting sanctions shall not be imposed,
though compensation may be payable. A professional may only terminate his
contract on this basis in the 15 days following the last official match of the
season of the club with which he is registered.

What if we just gave him 2 minute cameos at the end of each game, under the guise of protecting his back?
