Is Purslow in Spain?

Re: Purslows in Spain

Yes.

But they don't have eyelids so you can never tell when they are asleep. That's why SOS need to be so vigilant.

Re: Purslows in Spain

torres could walk into any team in world football, he is 26 and deserves to be at the very top level. if he wants out I can 'understand' it. the europe really just doesn't cut it.

You can understand what? That he wants to leave one of the biggest clubs in the World because they've had one shit season, most of which he was unavailable for?

Fuck that. We pay him well, he plays alongside some very good players, in one of the best leagues in the World.

Poor the fucking Nando.

Re: Purslows in Spain

Why would an executive of Liverpool FC spend two days talking to a contracted player who is due to return to pre-season training shortly? Talking about what?, in two days you could negotiate a treaty...

You can be sure that if a bid had been made for the player that would be leaked first.

I'm sure members of staff call each other on the phone all the time, I can't see a reason to panic just yet.

Re: Purslows in Spain

What a weird thread. Why would anyone assume that Purslow spending two days in Spain talking to Torres meant there would be bad news? I don't get it. Surely direct communication is better than no communication or sending texts or whatever?

IF Torres wants to leave us, I'll be devastated - and, yes, angry. But I don't think he will. I think he'll stay. And I certainly don't see any reason to doubt that prediction based on the rumour that Purslow's in Spain, having a long conversation with him. For me, that's good news.

Re: Purslows in Spain

Neets having a rant! Damn, this is a good day. Incidentally, I'm in agreement. It really doesnt help the team having the world's best striker on the physios table. He needs to be playing week in and week out.

Well I would agree Bunny, except nowhere does it actually say he is in Spain. Everyone has jumped to that conclusion.

"Christian Purslow has been talking to Fernando Torres for the last two days so I think there has probably been lots of words from Fernando Torres but I haven't actually spoken to him,"

I assume that is in reply to a question along the lines , " any word from Fernando Torres yet Roy?"

As I said earlier in this thread and the other day people are digesting bits from interviews and reading into them what they want. People on here love torturing themselves and turning everyone into a cunt when there is no evidence , the last couple of days of optimism must have been too much for some to bear.

Even if he was in Spain for two days, I would only read positives into it.

I want him to stay, and would be extremely surprised and disappointed if he left, firstly because he is a class striker and would love to see him have a relatively injury free season to see what he actually could do, but more than that, so we can retain some credibility, credibility that has come back in waves over the last few days.

After years on football forums , I could do a thesis on mass hysteria.

Neil we al know that Torres could walk into any team in the world anf should be at the very top level. Whether he deserves to be there or not is another matter. The facts are that he has a contract with us. He signed it. Not me. Not you. Not his agent. He signed it for very good reasons.

So personally, even if it is an oldfashioned view, I would not "understand" it if he left especially for a premiership club.

But its all speculation at the moment so lets wait and see.

Ha. Yes its fun to write a thread, go to bed, and check next morning to see the mayhem it created. 😉

Apologies for the 2 + 2 = 5 and assuming that Purslow was actually in Spain, however, he is either there, or he has a seriously big fucking phone bill.

Im of the opinion that Torres is seriously thinking about leaving and whilst I would be very disappointed it that were the case, I think that , just like in Maschers case, we would be better off cashing in (for the fees we want of course), and having time to find suitable replacements.

Re: Purslows in Spain

I'm not bothered if he stays or goes tbh.

If he leaves we get a huge fee for him that could arguably leave our squad in a better position once it's been reinvested, if he stays then we've got a great player on our hands.

Just make up your mind quickly please Fernando.

Re: Purslows in Spain

I just dont understand this. Countless times throughout each season, he goes on about how much he loves the club, and will stay for years, then after one bad season, he can't even be bothered to release a statement that he is going to stay or go. Especially with all the gossip about Chelsea and Barcelona going around. Isn't it time he puts us out of our misery?

As far as I'm concerned Gerrard has paid his dues to this club and earned the right to seek assurances, he's been here through the decline of Houllier and Benitez, his relationship with Rafa was always strained, despite the papering of the cracks, he made that clear in his book and of course it was more obvious towards the end, but regardless, he stayed. Torres has been here five minutes, happily took his improved contract offer without questions asked, and now needs *two days* to be talked around into staying?

Whatever, people can be upset about 'the reaction' he's getting. I'm sick of him always being injured and then having the audacity to demand assurances to stay.

Whatever, sell him, cash in.

AWful awful post!
[/quote]Well you're the expert on those Dreamy.
I agree with Anita. If he does leave he's a prick.

Re: Purslows in Spain

I wouldn't begrudge anyone leaving our club at the moment, especially one of the world's best players.

I wouldn't sell for a penny less than £60M though.

I also think Torres staying is dependant on the ownership situaiton. If Purslow convinces him to stay then I'll be more optimistic about new owners coming in soon.

I'm in the he's a prick camp to if he leaves, One bad season and he fuck's off. I would expect at least one more season from him if things don't improve then i wouldn't begrudge him a move.

However if the club accepted an offer, but torres wanted to stay then it would be different story.

I agree with the notion that if he leaves he's a prick but let's not get trigger happy and wait and see what happens.

It's the Whatever, sell him, cash in.[ attitude that I find a bit hysterical.

Re: Purslows in Spain

no one is saying he 'WILL' leave but if he 'WERE' to leave I wouldn't hold it against him. he owes us nothing and its not like the debacle that was owen's imminent signing, torres hasn't strung us along making promises he has no intention of keeping.

I think he owes us this season to be honest. Had he not had the time off with injuries that he did, we would not have fallen out of the CL places last year, and who knows what might have happened if we had him for more games the season before.
Now, that's not all his fault I know but we are all in it together.
I think the least he can do is see what happens this year and given the character he is , I would be surprised if he didn't see it that way himself.
The only thing I would also add is this the "one bad season thing" is a but subjective.

However as I keep saying, all we can do is sit and wait, and judge the lad when he actually says something

Re: Purslows in Spain

Of course he owes us. Morally and legally. You don't sign a contract extension on better terms if you're about to up and leave - not if you have anything about you.

Yeah I know that this isn't how it works in practice and footballers seem to get a green card from this sort of thing... But you shouldn't sign up to something you aren't prepared to commit to. Goes for everyone.

Good post, for someone who spoke about his love LFC everyweek, 2 weeks after the world cup still nothing, if he wants to leave then bye but expect any good luck, he would have left too soon and like Owen when we needed him most while Gerrard stayed. At least left after winning a few things.
