It doesn't take two days to find out if a player is thinking of leaving, state your case and get an answer. I think if he wanted to leave he'd just say so. I'm hoping, based on that assumption, that Torres is trying to pressure the club into a few very good signings and/or a few assurances about how his injuries will be dealt with.

As far as I'm concerned Gerrard has paid his dues to this club and earned the right to seek assurances, he's been here through the decline of Houllier and Benitez, his relationship with Rafa was always strained, despite the papering of the cracks, he made that clear in his book and of course it was more obvious towards the end, but regardless, he stayed. Torres has been here five minutes, happily took his improved contract offer without questions asked, and now needs *two days* to be talked around into staying?

I said it last season and i'll say it again.
I would have sold Torres when he was valued at 70m and looked to bring in Villa 30m + a few others. He doesn't play enough games anymore for us to say definetly that "he's the best striker in the world". He's one of them, but he's also one of the most injury prone. His performances at the WC were dreadful. Largely due to the fact that he was recovering from another injury. I think we'll see more of the same next year unfortunately.
