Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has stated he is keen to snap up Juventus battler Christian Poulsen.
Poulsen, 30, has emerged as the prime target to replace wantaway defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano.
Goal.com UK revealed last month that Hodgson would target Poulsen if Mascherano left the club to join Inter, and a move now looks likely after the new Reds boss confirmed he would be interested in a reunion with the player he managed at F.C Copenhagen a decade ago.
Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, the former Fulham boss insisted he was ready to swoop for the Denmark international.
"If we can sign him from Juventus at a price I consider reasonable, he will be a very good player to bring into our team," Hodgson said.
"Christian is a player I know well, a player whose career I actually kick-started many years ago and I have followed him closely ever since."
