It won't mean an awful lot if we beat them. We've beaten them for the last 3 seasons (I think).

Beating them isn't the issue cos it's easy to raise your game for on-off 'big' fixtures; it's the other fixtures throughout the season without that stature attached to them that we struggle with. Until we change our results in those fixtures, beating United will mean fuck all.

We've beaten them regularly for 20 years and won cunt all.

Agree with Ryan to a point. Of course what he says is correct but I think the game against the mancs will be more important than previous seasons. Players like Adam, Carroll, Henderson, Downing etc will gain confidence in playing with a team which can actually finish the job. Adam in particular must have thought last season they could take Ferguson down but then found it was beyond them.

Henderson and Downing look down on confidence to me and I think a win against the scum would give them that excitement to ignite their confidence.

As has been said, if we beat them and then get turned over by Swansea then it'll probably do as much harm as good. But to sit there in the top 4, one game off the mancs after 8 games will give some of the new lads a sense of what is possible. I think it could kick start the season.

We never play well after an international break.

You'd think this one should be an advantage to us.

Considering Carra, Stevie, Kelly, Enrique, Agger and Skittles are all not participating in the international games, you'd think we will have a slight advantage....but it never pans out that way.

Against the Mancs i'd go like this.
