If you could pick one player from another PL team...

… To drop into our side for this very season, who would it be?

I couldn’t sleep last night and this shit came into my head for some reason.

I’ve narrowed it down to Terry, Matic and Aguero.

I think I’m tending towards the first two. Aguero’s kinda the fantasy pick, as opposed to the practical one. We’ll score more goals this year than last, and I’m interested to see how Benteke and Sturridge go, so sorry Sergio.

Matic V Terry. Both outstanding, both would improve us significantly. I think I might just go for Terry out of the two though. Matic would be an outstanding DM for us, infinitely better than anything we’ve got, and would provide super cover for the defence, but Terry would do everything he does as a centre back (still the best in Europe by the way) and could educate the rest of the fucking defence how to play – something Matic couldn’t do, and something our Manager and coaching staff have shown themselves incapable of doing.

Anyway, I’ve probably over-thought this hypothetical shit, but yeah Terry for me.

We need a Matic or an Aguero far more than a Hazard but Aguero is regularly broken.

It'd pick Sanchez personally and play him in a front three with Benteke and Firminho. I don't have faith in any one player walking in and being able to sort our defensive frailties under Rodgers so I'd pick a player who could help us out score the opposition.

He would, sure. But he wouldn't let our defensive set-up continue and that's my point.

I'd have him re-organise our entire defense ahead of any coach we've got at the club. I'm not sure people are as fascinated with Terry as I am (the footballer, not the man); he's a marvellous centre back, one of the best I've ever seen, and he leads and drives that entire defence at Chelsea. He's be superb in a side like ours cos he'd single-handedly fix the entire fucking mess himself.

I actually think that's kind of what Carra did when he got back into our side post-January, where our defensive record and more importantly the way we defended changed dramatically.
Would probably have won the league with him the year after had he not retired.

You seemed to think once that a certain Dejan Lovren might do that. Not trying to catch you out - just interested to hear your opinion on why that did not work out ....yet. A quality gk can allow an average defence to play well.

Matic. Another possibility is Ivanovic, who can play at either RCB or RB (e.g. if Clyne is injured or is shifted to LB).

Interesting nobody names Schneiderlin after Matic, despite the calls for getting him in as a DM. I'd have thought that it'd have been natural to pick him next after Matic.
